SUMMARY/SCOPE: We are looking for a part-time faculty member to teach three classes in dance for the Theatre Program: Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach dance courses for the Theatre Program. Courses will include a focus on dance basics with an emphasis on musical theatre style. Each class meets once a week for 90 minutes, from 3:00-4:30 on Tuesday (Beginning) Wednesday (Intermediate), and Thursday (Advanced). This schedule repeats in the Spring.
Demonstrate effective teaching strategies by planning and implementing a variety of teaching methods as well as assessment.
Maintain accurate records and documents, submit timely reports, and be responsive to students.
Records/documents include but are not limited to syllabi and grades..

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
At least a Master’s degree in Dance or related area is preferred, with at least 18 graduate hours or significant, relevant professional experience required. Teaching experience is preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
None are required for this position at this time.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The job requires active, physical movement in order to teach and model various forms of dance.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This position is a part-time/temp adjunct position (no more than 29 hours per week) that involves teaching in-person classes on campus at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas.
Must be a resident of the state of Texas.
