YOUR DAY TO DAY LIFE

We are looking for a QA/QC Technician in #106- 8255 North Fraser Way, Burnaby, BC V3N OB9 CAN. Your mission will be to:

Position Summary The incumbent develops, maintains and communicates the laboratory quality assurance system by ensuring that laboratory procedures are being performed within specified quality guidelines. These activities ensure that the quality requirements are implemented adequately and the quality system is reviewed, improved and updated. Also to ensure that the in-process reworks are reduced and accuracy of results and customer satisfaction is improved. The incumbent reports directly to the Quality Assurance Manager.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities ●Assist with the maintenance of all local quality and safety-related documents (Procedures, Work Instructions,). ●Assist with internal audits as per approved schedules in accordance with pertinent quality documents and prepare all the corresponding documents and reports. ●Assist with monitoring the quality activities, implement the agreed corrective action and evaluate its effectiveness. ●Assist with the implementation of internal quality control programs, evaluation of the results and in the establishment of the internal repeatability and reproducibility of standard methods. ●Assist with data entry of quality control data into spreadsheets and / or databases as applicable ●Assist with carrying out thorough investigations of quality failures, complaints and make recommendations for correction and improvement as necessary. ●Assist with managing the internal and external calibration program and review records. Verify internal calibrations are carried out as per the requirements of the protocol. ●Assist with internal and external calibration and temperature profile program ( syringes, thermometers, coolers, freezers, incubators, etc.) ●Assist with Client and Certification Body audits and maintain the approval status. ●Assist with conducting in-house training sessions on quality and related topics . ●Assist with closing out of any non-conformances and conduct follow-up audits. ●Maintain reference standard inventory in LIMS. ●Maintain knowledge of LIMS that is required to complete job responsibilities. ●Other related duties as assigned. ●At any time, the incumbent must behave and operate in an ethical and Code of Conduct compliant manner.

YOUR PROFILE

Qualifications Required ●The incumbent must have a general knowledge of microbiology and chemistry, possibly obtained from a related degree or job experience, to analyze and interpret quality control data accurately. A basic knowledge of food science is necessary to analyze the microbiological or chemical content of food samples. A broad knowledge of laboratory procedures and policies is necessary to develop and maintain appropriate quality control systems and employee training programs. A general knowledge of the Laboratory Information Management System is required to ensure the accuracy of client data. A general knowledge of personal computer software and basic data entry skills is needed to generate special reports and calculate quality control results. Planning skills are needed to ensure that analysis tasks are completed in a timely manner. Oral and written communication skills are required to write special reports and work with laboratory personnel on quality issues. ●The incumbent may make decisions regarding the accuracy and validity of testing results and the proper means to investigate problems. Recommendations are made to laboratory management regarding changes to procedures or quality control systems. Unique or unusual problems can require the input of laboratory management in order to determine the optimal solution. ●The incumbent gets direction from the QA Manager. The incumbent works toward general goals and objectives established by laboratory management. The method of attaining the goals is determined by the incumbent in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and discussion with the QA Manager. The assigned tasks must be completed within an established time frame. ●The incumbent analyzes internal quality control data to ensure that laboratory results are within established quality guidelines. When laboratory results are outside of guidelines, the incumbent must investigate why this is so and develop corrective actions. ●[Management Experience] None

Qualifications Desired ●Experience working in a Microbiology or Chemistry lab is strongly desired

Communication ●The incumbent has frequent contact with vendors and laboratory personnel in all departments to coordinate quality assurance programs.

Physical Demands and Work Environment ●The incumbent works in an administrative office with proper lighting and temperature control. This position involves some exposure to laboratory settings where the necessary safety equipment is required. Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials will occur when in the laboratory. Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs may be required.

The pay for this role is $18.75/hourly CAD. This is a 8 month fixed term contract position.
