Salary Range: $27 - $34/hourly This is a non-exempt (hourly) position. Pay rates are based on education, skill, experience level and internal equity. Who will I be working with ? Permit Technicians on the Residential Permitting Team will be working with Contractors, Engineers, Architects, Developers, Owners, Inspectors, Plan Review Staff, and other Agencies on most Residential projects within Mecklenburg County. Interactions will be in person or via phone, or email.
What Will I Be Doing ? Permit Technician lll- Support of all Permit Technician duties as well as ensure plans submitted for residential plan review meet minimum submittal guidelines and formatting; provides final acceptance approval of plans to be submitted for plan review; educates customers and employees on processes to submit plans; other duties as assigned.
Position Summary Perform paraprofessional work in support of construction or project management activities. This position, under direct supervision, is responsible for gathering and collecting technical data; reviewing construction plans for codes and regulations; reviewing permit packages; providing information to customers. Classification level & pay determination based upon education and experience.
Essential Functions Review all residential plan review project applications for appropriateness in addition to ensuring submittals meet all standards for minimal submittal requirements Supporting customers in the plan review process from application through submittal Ensure workflow and deadlines are tracked Apply latest legislation, building codes, local ordinances, design specifications, standards manual, etc. Assist with development and implementation of standard operating procedures and guides
Minimum Qualifications Experience: Minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in the area of assignment.
Education: Associate's degree in Engineering, Construction, Surveying, or Real Estate Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted?: Yes
Licenses and Certifications Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License Must obtain and maintain a Mecklenburg County Operator's Permit
Knowledge Skills and Abilities Knowledge of Construction Documents - Plans specification and surveying work Applicable principles, practices, methods, and techniques used in assigned area of responsibility Mathematical concepts Engineering plans, specifications, and surveying work Applicable equipment utilized in the construction trades Applicable Federal, State and local statutes, codes, and regulations Recordkeeping principles and practices Databases Filing systems Customer service principles
Skills Completing paperwork and documentation Reviewing plans and/or specifications Performing a variety of engineering-related calculations Providing customer service Conducting site inspections Interpreting and enforcing regulations Reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, and plans Performing mathematical calculations Maintaining records and filing systems
