Location: Phoenix, AZ (100% Onsite – Local Candidates Only)
Duration: 8 Weeks (Contract-to-Hire Opportunity)
Work Hours: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (40 Hours/Week)
Work Location: 1789 W Jefferson St., 2nd Floor, Phoenix, AZ 85007

Position Overview The Arizona Department of Economic Security (AZDES) is seeking a Benefits & Eligibility Specialist (UI Adjudicator) to review applications for public assistance programs, conduct applicant interviews, verify documentation, and determine eligibility for benefits. The ideal candidate will have strong customer service, communication, and interviewing skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, onsite environment.
Required Skills
- 2+ years of Customer Service experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work 100% onsite
- Reliable transportation
- Strong interviewing, fact-gathering, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience performing Eligibility Reviews
- Previous UI or Insurance Adjudicator experience
- Public Assistance or Benefits Administration experience
- Case Management experience
Key Responsibilities
- Review applications for public assistance programs and determine eligibility.
- Conduct applicant interviews and gather required information.
- Verify application accuracy and supporting documentation.
- Follow up with applicants to obtain missing or additional information.
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with program guidelines.
- Communicate eligibility decisions professionally and accurately.
- Provide excellent customer service while handling sensitive information.
