We are Diversified, a global B2B events and media company that strengthens business communities by fostering a space, in person and online, for professionals and businesses to connect and grow. The company serves as a trusted partner across several industries including active lifestyle, business management, clean energy, commercial marine, healthcare, seafood, technology and more. Established in 1949 and headquartered in Portland, Maine, the global company has divisions and offices around the world in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. Diversified is a third-generation, family-owned business. Join our team as a Marine Money Managing Editor!

ABOUT THE ROLE

If you've spent years immersed in the world of shipping finance and capital markets and you're ready to put that expertise to work as an authoritative editorial voice, this role was built for you. As Managing Editor for Marine Money , you'll sit at the center of one of the maritime industry's most respected media brands, shaping the analytical content that senior financiers, shipowners, investors, and policymakers rely on every week. You'll own a rich portfolio that spans the Freshly Minted newsletter, Marine Money Magazine, a growing digital membership platform, two proprietary industry databases, and a global conference portfolio of 14 events where your market knowledge will help shape programming and open doors. This is a rare opportunity to do work that genuinely matters to a sophisticated international community - and to grow your influence within it.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead Editorial Coverage: Research, write, and edit original analytical content across the Freshly Minted weekly newsletter, Marine Money Magazine, and the digital membership platform, covering shipping finance, capital markets, vessel transactions, maritime debt and equity, and global trade dynamics with depth and precision.
  • Steward the Marine Money Deal Database: Oversee and actively contribute to this comprehensive, searchable repository of shipping finance transactions spanning more than a decade - maintaining data accuracy, supporting ongoing analysis, and developing content that serves both subscribers and tailored consulting engagements.
  • Maintain the Official Guide to Ship Registries (OGSR): Keep this authoritative reference current across more than 100 flag states, updating registration requirements, taxation, crewing, legal frameworks, regulatory developments, and related maritime topics across open, national, and international registries.
  • Shape the Global Conference Portfolio: Partner with Marine Money event teams across all 14 global conferences to help develop relevant programming topics, identify and secure speakers, and build relationships with key industry stakeholders that support both editorial and sponsorship goals.
  • Manage and Mentor the Editor - Data & Analysis: Supervise your direct report through close collaboration, regular feedback, performance reviews, and meaningful coaching for professional development, while working together to integrate market data and deal flow analysis into compelling narratives.
  • Build and Cultivate Industry Relationships: Develop a strong, ongoing network of contacts across maritime finance and shipping - bankers, shipowners, investors, legal and advisory professionals - to surface story leads, market intelligence, and expert perspectives that keep Marine Money's content ahead of the market.
  • Represent Marine Money at Global Events: Travel to industry conferences and Marine Money events throughout the year to strengthen source relationships, gather market intelligence, moderate panels, introduce speakers, and identify new content and membership engagement opportunities.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Financial and Editorial Foundation: A bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience in financial journalism, trade media, or a content-focused role within the maritime, banking, or capital markets sectors; an advanced degree in finance, economics, or a related field is a plus.
  • Deep Shipping Finance Expertise: A strong, working understanding of shipping finance is essential - familiarity with maritime regulation, compliance frameworks, or related legal topics will set you apart.
  • Exceptional Writing and Editing Ability: The proven skill to translate complex financial and market concepts into clear, authoritative, and engaging content for a highly specialized professional audience, across both print and digital formats.
  • Multi-Deadline Agility: The ability to manage simultaneous editorial workloads across a weekly newsletter and quarterly magazine cycle while staying flexible enough to pivot when market events demand it without sacrificing quality or accuracy.
  • Data and Reference Product Experience: Comfort maintaining or contributing to structured data products, databases, or reference publications is a plus; proficiency with content management systems and basic HTML knowledge are helpful.
  • Credibility with Senior Industry Figures: The interpersonal confidence and market knowledge to engage meaningfully with bankers, shipowners, investors, and policymakers, both as an editorial voice and as a visible representative of the Marine Money brand at global events.
  • Collaborative and Curious Mindset: Intellectual rigor, meticulous attention to detail, and a genuine comfort working within a lean, collaborative team across global time zones, adapting quickly as editorial and event priorities evolve.

TRAVEL

This role requires frequent travel - four or more times annually, including international travel, to support Marine Money 's global conference portfolio and key industry events.
