An outstanding opportunity is available for an experienced hospital pharmacy leader to join a respected acute care hospital as Director of Pharmacy . This executive leadership role offers the opportunity to lead all aspects of inpatient pharmacy operations while partnering directly with the CEO and clinical leadership team to drive patient safety, regulatory excellence, operational efficiency, and high-quality pharmaceutical care.

Position Overview
As the Director of Pharmacy, you will provide strategic, clinical, operational, and financial leadership for the hospital's pharmacy department. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will work collaboratively with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and compliant medication management throughout the organization.
This role offers the opportunity to influence organizational strategy while leading initiatives that improve quality, patient safety, and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide executive leadership for all inpatient pharmacy operations
- Oversee the clinical, operational, financial, and administrative functions of the pharmacy department
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and accreditation standards, including The Joint Commission and CMS
- Lead medication safety initiatives, including the Adverse Drug Reaction Program
- Develop, mentor, and evaluate pharmacy staff while fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
- Participate in medication therapy management and patient drug monitoring initiatives
- Lead quality assurance and medication utilization programs to improve patient outcomes
- Develop and implement innovative clinical pharmacy services, such as pharmacokinetic dosing, pain management, nutritional support, patient counseling, or other evidence-based programs
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nursing leadership, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize medication management
- Manage departmental budgets, staffing, productivity, and operational performance
- Promote patient education and family counseling regarding medication therapies
- Identify opportunities to enhance workflow efficiency, regulatory readiness, and clinical excellence
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with all educational requirements necessary for state licensure
- Current pharmacist license or eligibility for licensure in Pennsylvania
- Minimum three years of recent hospital pharmacy experience within an acute care setting
- Strong knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations, regulatory compliance, and medication safety
- BLS certification if required by state regulations
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
- Hospital pharmacy residency (PGY1 and/or PGY2)
- Advanced degree in healthcare or business
- Board Certification
- Previous pharmacy management or director-level leadership experience
- Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams and driving operational improvement initiatives
