Key Responsibilities
The Utah Department of Corrections is seeking a highly organized, detail oriented Criminal Information Specialist to join our team. The Criminal Information Specialist is responsible for the accurate and efficient management of offender records, intake and release processes, and documentation. This role ensures compliance with departmental policies and state statutes, acting as a liaison between the Department of Corrections, Board of Pardons and Parole, courts, and other government agencies. This position is in-person at the Utah State Correctional Facility, 1480 N. 8000 W., Salt Lake City.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate the intake and release processes, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
Verify charges on court documentation, ensure signed board warrants are on file.
Coordinate with internal and external partners to obtain documentation, fix errors, and ensure legal compliance.
Serve as a primary point of contact for emails and phone calls for Department of Corrections employees, other state agencies, and the public.
Coordinate with legal counsel to clarify complex documents or resolve anomalies.
Regularly audit records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Update and maintain records in various databases, ensuring all relevant documents are uploaded correctly.
Conduct background searches and other database research.
Collaborate across divisions to fulfill operational needs.
Monitor communications for urgent requests and prioritize immediate action to ensure compliance.
Work with other agencies to obtain, file, and complete documents and information.
Other duties as assigned.
Occasional after-hours and weekend availability and work may be required.
Ideal Candidate
Strong attention to detail with the ability to audit and cross-reference complex legal documents.
Proficiency in databases and/or case management systems (O-Track, UDOCA, UCJIS, or similar systems).
Familiarity with criminal justice documentation, including Judgment and Commitment documents, board warrants, sentence calculations, and state statute.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Ability to collaborate in a team setting.
Experience in a judicial or law enforcement role preferred.
