Job Description

What you will do

Lead, mentor, and develop software engineers through coaching, performance management, career development, and talent planning.

Drive the design, development, and delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performing software solutions aligned with business objectives.

Partner with Product Management, Architecture, UX, and Engineering teams to define technical roadmaps and deliver customer-focused solutions.

Oversee application architecture, API design, system integrations, and platform reliability across complex enterprise environments.

Establish and enforce engineering best practices for code quality, security, testing, observability, and operational excellence.

Lead Agile delivery teams, ensuring predictable execution, risk management, and continuous improvement of development processes.

Champion DevOps and CI/CD practices, enabling automation, deployment efficiency, and accelerated software delivery.

Collaborate with senior leadership and key stakeholders to align engineering strategy, technology investments, and business priorities while driving innovation through emerging technologies and AI-assisted development tools.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Six to eight years of relevant technical experience
  • Five or more years of leading a software engineering team

Preferred Skills/Experience

Proven experience leading and developing geographically distributed software engineering teams through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.

Strong expertise in software architecture, system design, and building scalable, high-performance enterprise applications.

Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend engineering best practices .

Deep understanding of application performance, resiliency, observability, security, and integration across complex distributed systems .

Experience partnering with Product Management, UX/Design, Architecture, and Engineering teams to deliver customer-centric solutions.

Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, automated testing, and modern deployment strategies (Blue-Green, Canary, Progressive Rollouts).

Proven ability to align technical roadmaps and engineering execution with business strategy and organizational objectives.

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, collaborating effectively with engineers, product owners, scrum masters, vendors, and executive leadership.

Familiarity with front-end technologies including HTML5, CSS3, SASS, responsive design , and modern web application development.

Experience leveraging AI-assisted software development tools , automation, and productivity platforms to accelerate engineering delivery and quality.

Location expectations This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.
