Art Therapist
Job description
What You’ll Do
The Art Therapist develops and delivers therapeutic services utilizing art and creative expression to encourage meaningful and positive experiences. The Art Therapist facilitates scheduled group and individual sessions and as needed. May conduct assessments, crisismanagement, or carry a caseload based on the needs of the program.
Essential Duties
- Develop and deliver comprehensive 12-week therapeutic curriculum utilizing visual and expressive arts including but not limited to drawing, painting, sculpting, and writing.
- Facilitate group and individual sessions as assigned or as needed.
- Collaborate with Treatment Team when art is an appropriate medium for clients to access and process trauma.
- May conduct assessments or crisis management or carry a caseload as needed.
- Assess milieu needs and adjust therapeutic interventions as needed based on client needs.
- Coordinate showcases to display artwork produced by clients.
- Coordinate with Counselor to stage outings to enhance art appreciation.
- Observe client reactions, progress, or other outcomes related to art therapy and communicate with resident’s treatment team to ensure continuity of care.
- Be responsible for the timely completion of clinical documentation (assessments, progress, and group notes).
- Attend weekly clinical supervision.
- Attend trainings as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Master’s Degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field from an accredited or state approved graduate school required. Doctorate degree preferred.
- Board registered (APCC, LAPC, ASW, AMFT, MHCA) or Psychologic Associate in the state in which services are provided required. Licensed preferred.
- Board certification in art therapy strongly preferred.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience working with individuals and group with young adults or adolescents.
