Cloud FinOps Analyst
Job description
Accountabilities
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of cloud architecture and infrastructure components across multiple environments.
- Analyze cloud spending patterns and establish clear connections between architectural decisions and financial impact.
- Identify cost anomalies, inefficiencies, and optimization opportunities across compute, storage, networking, and managed services.
- Build dashboards, reporting frameworks, and cost intelligence tools that provide real-time visibility into cloud expenditure and trends.
- Define and support cloud governance initiatives, including tagging standards, resource lifecycle management, and rightsizing practices.
- Partner with engineering teams to assess the cost implications of architectural decisions before and after deployment.
- Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and reporting processes to support cloud financial management.
- Act as the primary advisor for cloud cost-related inquiries, translating technical findings into business-oriented recommendations for leadership.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align cloud strategy, operational priorities, and infrastructure roadmaps.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in cloud operations, cloud architecture, FinOps, or related infrastructure-focused roles.
- Strong hands-on expertise with AWS and/or Databricks environments, with multi-cloud experience considered highly valuable.
- Proficiency in Python, particularly for data analysis, reporting, and automation initiatives.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, including containerization, serverless technologies, managed databases, and distributed systems.
- Experience working with observability and monitoring platforms such as Datadog, CloudWatch, or equivalent tools.
- Familiarity with FinOps methodologies and cloud cost management solutions such as CloudHealth, Apptio, or native cloud optimization tools.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical insights into executive-level recommendations.
- Experience in regulated industries, life sciences, or enterprise SaaS environments is a plus.
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, GCP Professional Cloud Architect, or FinOps Certified Practitioner are advantageous.
