We are seeking to appoint an experienced Business Analyst to join our MIS Programme Management team on a permanent contract basis.
This role is based at our Dublin 1 office; however, we are pleased to offer a flexible working arrangement via our Work-Life Balance Framework. This allows you to work from home up to three (3) days a week . You will be expected to work at least two (2) days a week in the office, giving you the opportunity to enjoy a balanced and dynamic work environment.
What the MIS Programme Management Team does
The MIS Programme Management team manage the delivery of business-critical ICT application projects for our clients in the Higher Education Sector in Ireland. We engage with clients to ensure clear definition of scope for all projects. We also engage with vendors to agree contract terms for delivery in line with framework agreements.
We provide experienced Project Management/Business Analysis expertise to ensure delivery of the agreed functionality in line with industry best practice, and we ensure smooth transition to a “business as usual” support, following successful completion of project deliverables.
What the Business Analyst does
Reporting to the Programme Manager, the Business Analyst will work as a key member of a project team and will play a significant role in the successful delivery of a portfolio of strategic projects.
The Business Analyst will be involved in the implementation of large-scale MIS programmes which require substantial business process change. The ability to engage effectively with the Project Team and other key stakeholders is a key requirement.
The successful candidate will be responsible for mapping and documenting ‘as is’ and ‘to be’ business processes, upgrading existing systems and implementing and testing new systems.
You will have duties that include, but are not limited to
- Meeting with stakeholders to gather and analyse requirements
- Analysing workflows to create process maps and isolate areas of potential improvement
- Developing functional specifications that design and document the desired outcome of system enhancement/development
- Participating in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure the overall efficiency, functionality and user friendliness of system enhancement/development.
- Monitoring major cases reported in supplier ticketing systems to ensure awareness among our teams on the status of critical issues
- Working closely with relevant internal teams and supplier teams to help ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner
- Preparing material and providing training and assistance to end-users during and following implementation
- Working as a crucial component of a project team responsible for upgrading existing systems or implementing new systems

What we need from you
- A relevant degree, equivalent academic or professional 3rd level qualification.
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a business analysis role with proven experience developing business process documentation, developing UAT test scripts and stakeholder engagement.
- Knowledge of programming, system design, IT infrastructure and database concepts.
- Proven knowledge and experience of business analysis approaches, tools and techniques.
- Ability to analyse, isolate and interpret business needs and develop appropriate solutions.
- Strong customer service focus, interpersonal skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Proactive approach with the ability to develop constructive and collaborative working relationships both internally and externally.
- Sound judgment, problem solving and collaboration in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions to problems.
- A flexible attitude to the evolving needs of the role and its environment.
- Trustworthy, open and transparent, with a high degree of personal integrity.
- A high level of motivation and enthusiasm for the job.
Bonus Points
We don ’ t need you to have experience in the following areas, but if you did it could be beneficial:
- Previous experience in, or strong understanding of the public sector, and the education sector particularly;
- Previous experience of Student Record Management Systems, Ellucian Banner in particular.
- Strong understanding of all aspects of systems implementation and software development life cycles;
- Knowledge of public procurement tendering processes;
