The University of the Fraser Valley Student Union Society (SUS) is a BC Not-For-Profit Society representing and serving UFV students. The Society manages the Student Union Building and facilitates services such as the UFV U-Pass, food services, and the student health and dental plan. SUS also provides support to an active community by organizing events and providing wellness and developmental programming. As the official representative body of UFV students, o ur mission is to be an inclusive community that provides high-quality, accessible programs and services. We are the unified voice advocating on behalf of student interests in the UFV community, ensuring each student has opportunities to thrive.

Work Schedule: Part-Time (6 - 8 hours per week)
Compensation : $18.25 per hour
Reporting to: Facilities Operations Manager
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Are you a reliable, friendly, and hard-working coffee enthusiast? We are looking for a UFV student to join our Fair Grounds team, delivering excellent customer service on campus. You will be preparing and serving hot & cold beverages, including various types of coffee, tea, and blended drinks, along with pastries, cookies, and sandwiches.
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a program at the University of the Fraser Valley.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES OF THE FAIR GROUNDS COFFEE BARISTA:
Fairgrounds Baristas perform several job duties and provide outstanding customer service to the UFV community:
- Take orders and make coffee, tea, and other drinks to customer specifications
- Reheat food, restock the display case, and also operate cash registers and credit card machines
- Clean and maintain coffee machines, equipment work areas, condiment stands, and preparation areas
- Offer excellent customer service and speedy delivery of all beverages as well as complete assigned tasks
- Report any customer feedback to the shift supervisor
- Accurately process orders in our point of sale system
- Answer customer questions regarding coffee blends, preparation, and product freshness
- Adhere to recipes and presentations for food and beverage items
- Restock shelves and supplies as needed
- Report potential safety hazards and any accidents to the shift supervisor
- Follow health and safety guidelines
QUALIFICATIONS AND ASSETS
- Must be a current UFV Student
- Food Safe certification is required
- Willingness to learn and develop professional skills
- Must work with and treat all people respectfully and equally
- Professional work ethic, exercising good judgement, initiative, and high degree of diplomacy
- Able to manage deadlines and plan tasks well in advance
- Work both independently and cooperatively as part of a team
- E xcellent verbal and written communication
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others
- Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds
- Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
- Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT
Weekly schedules will be prepared by the Facilities Operations Manager and will consider the employee’s academic schedule.
