Global Sourcing Manager, Direct

About the Role:

Wing is looking for a Global Sourcing Manager to join our Sourcing team. This role is onsite based in Palo Alto, CA. You will help design and build our hardware supply chain, lead supplier engagement strategy, and enable scale by partnering closely with engineering, operations, legal and finance teams. Your leadership both internally and with suppliers will ensure that aircraft and ground infrastructure can be built cost-effectively at scale, meet quality and compliance standards, and are delivered on time. Our team moves fast and we will look to you to learn quickly, build strong relationships both internally and externally and make thoughtful decisions with conviction and efficiency. This high-impact and high-autonomy role is foundational to ensuring our supply chain is set up for scale.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead commercial engagement and sourcing strategy for parts and/or assembly of our aircraft and ground infrastructure
• Negotiate the contractual terms and pricing for our supplier partnerships
• Partner closely with internal cross-functional teams, our suppliers and our contract manufacturers to ensure quality and manufacturability of our assemblies
• Secure supplier capacity and scale to meet demand
• Source and qualify new suppliers, conduct market research and technology analysis to support Wing’s innovation roadmap
• Assess and mitigate supply chain risk
• Build a deep understanding of our technology, operations and mission to develop successful, long-term supplier relationships globally
• Build trust and scalable processes with all cross functional teams

What You’ll Need:

• 8+ years of experience developing and managing global supplier relationships and bringing high-volume products from concept to mass production
• A Bachelor's Degree in a technical field (e.g., mechanical, industrial, or electrical engineering) is preferred, but equivalent practical experience in supply chain, manufacturing, military service, consulting, or finance will also be considered
• A natural ability to operate autonomously across multiple teams in situations of ambiguity and develop scalable solutions
• Ability and curiosity to quickly learn and dive deep into designs and underlying technology but keep a fast pace of operational execution
• Effective communication skills with suppliers, peers and with executive teams
• You are an experienced negotiator, capable of developing leverage for new technology and industry while structuring complex deals
• You have experience structuring and negotiating legal frameworks for new IP development and licensing, Master Supply Agreements for scaled manufacturing, Capex investment schedules and custom SOWs as business needs come up
• You are familiar with bottoms-up cost modeling and have knowledge of cost structures for various electromechanical commodities
• You have taken several products to market and can thoughtfully balance the requirements at different stages of the product development cycle (proto, EVT, DVT, PVT, MP)
• You are able to roll up your sleeves, solve tactical challenges fast and ensure daily supply meets demand, while keeping the bigger picture and strategy at the forefront
