Resale Operations & Purchasing Specialist
Job description
The Resale Operations & Purchasing Specialist is responsible for ensuring the operational excellence of Techo-Bloc's Resale business, managing a diverse portfolio of premium hardscape accessory brands. This role oversees purchasing, inventory replenishment, supplier operations, product lifecycle management, and operational readiness across the distribution network to ensure products are available at the right place, at the right time, and at the right cost.
Working cross-functionally with Planning, Sales, Customer Service, Logistics, Finance, Marketing and Distribution, the incumbent drives supply chain performance while supporting the continued growth of the Resale business.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Purchasing
- Execute inventory replenishment through D365 MRP planning.
- Create and maintain purchase orders for domestic and international suppliers.
- Manage forward buying for seasonal and long lead-time products.
- Analyze and manipulate inventory, sales and demand data to identify the right SKU mix and quantities for each order load, balancing inventory targets, historical trends and forecasted needs while maximizing freight efficiency.
- Maintain accurate purchase order costs, confirmations and expected receipt dates.
- Ensure purchasing complies with negotiated pricing, trade agreements and Special Sales Agreements (SAGRs).
- Recover vendor credits and resolve purchasing and invoice discrepancies.
Supplier Relationship Management
- Act as the primary operational contact for assigned suppliers.
- Coordinate order confirmations, production schedules, lead times and deliveries.
- Manage supplier claims, quality issues and customer complaint resolutions.
- Support supplier performance reviews, sourcing initiatives and new vendor onboarding.
- Coordinate customs documentation and import requirements for international suppliers.
Inventory & Wholesale Operations
- Partner with Planning to optimize inventory levels across the distribution network.
- Monitor inventory health, aging, shelf life, seasonality and supply risks.
- Develop inventory movement strategies, including transfers and rebalancing between distribution centers.
- Coordinate operational execution of annual Booking Programs, including customer commitments, supplier allocations and purchasing plans.
- Respond to inventory availability requests and provide accurate product ETAs.
- Develop and maintain purchasing and operational SOPs.
Yard & Distribution Readiness
- Ensure resale products are stored, handled and maintained according to operational standards.
- Monitor yard inventory conditions, organization and aging.
- Coordinate operational readiness for new product launches and new brand introductions across all distribution centers.
- Partner with Distribution to ensure adequate storage capacity, inventory placement and receiving readiness.
- Support inventory audits, cycle counts and continuous inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time across North America, as required.
Product & ERP Master Data Management
- Support new product introductions and vendor onboarding.
- Own product lifecycle activities, including SKU creation, product setup, unit conversions, purchasing parameters, minimum purchase quantities, selling units, discontinuations and product clearances.
- Maintain purchasing agreements, vendor costs and trade agreements within D365.
- Collaborate with Planning and ERP teams to ensure master data accuracy and clear ownership of system parameters.
Logistics & Supply Chain Coordination
- Coordinate direct shipments, vendor pickups and inbound transportation.
- Manage domestic and international inbound freight activities.
- Ensure shipping and customs documentation is complete and accurate.
- Support freight optimization and cost reduction initiatives.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations, Logistics or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience
- 5–8 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory management or supply chain operations.
- Experience managing domestic and international suppliers.
- Experience with ERP systems (D365, SAP, Oracle or similar).
- Experience with inventory planning, replenishment and distribution operations.
- Experience working in a distribution, manufacturing or building materials environment is considered an asset.
