Hardware/Electrical Design Engineer
Job description
Design hardware and electrical control systems for industrial automation equipment, including but not limited to conveyor systems, sortation equipment, and flow-control devices used in parcel, logistics, and e-commerce distribution operations.
This role sits within their hardware engineering team, and is responsible for design only, while other teams handle field installation and commissioning. Projects are substantial in duration, and engineers move from one project to the next as design phases complete.
Required Qualifications
- Senior-level experience (5+ years) in hardware/electrical design for industrial automation or material handling equipment
- Strong AutoCAD proficiency
- Solid understanding of the physical components involved (motors, drives, sensors, PLCs)
- Strong English communication skills for real-time collaboration with U.S. engineering counterparts and project teams
- Ability to work independently, remotely
Preferred Qualifications
- Design hardware and electrical control systems for automated material handling equipment
- Produce AutoCAD drawings, schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams to document designs
- Apply working knowledge of components used in equipment (motors, drives, sensors, PLCs, safety devices)
- Translate project specifications and mechanical requirements into buildable designs
- Maintain BOMs and design documentation
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications
- Work on a project basis, with assignment to specific projects for the duration of the design phase
