Senior Electrical Engineer – Motion Control & Power Electronics
Job description
Our client is seeking an Electrical Engineer III to design, develop, and support electronics for motion‑control and electromechanical systems used in demanding environments. This role focuses on brushless motor control, power electronics, embedded hardware, and PCB development. The engineer will collaborate closely with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and customer‑facing teams to deliver high‑performance products such as propulsion systems, actuators, and electro‑hydraulic assemblies.
This position includes participation in technical discussions, design reviews, and customer interactions, and requires strong ownership of product development from concept through production.

Compensation: $120,000–$150,000 (higher for exceptional candidates)

Responsibilities
- Provide remote technical support to customers; occasional travel required.
- Perform schematic capture, PCB layout, BOM creation, and prototype testing.
- Improve existing designs for performance, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.
- Develop brushless motor drivers, three‑phase power stages, and supporting circuitry.
- Lead or participate in customer technical discussions, design reviews, and project updates.
- Support manufacturing during assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and product integration.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define specifications, analyses, and test procedures.
- Serve as Project Engineer for custom projects, ensuring schedule, budget, and technical compliance.
- Supervise and support electromechanical technicians during circuit board assembly and system integration.
- Provide detailed technical documentation including wiring diagrams, assembly instructions, and test procedures.
- Support integration of electromechanical devices such as rotary/linear actuators, hydraulic pumps, and propulsion systems.
- Design and implement electrical systems for electromechanical equipment including thrusters, actuators, sensors, and propulsion assemblies.
Qualifications (Must-Haves)
- Proficiency in English and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- Strong communication skills and comfort in customer‑facing technical discussions.
- Strong experience with brushless motor control, three‑phase AC/DC motors, and motor drive electronics.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and collaborate across engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Proficiency with laboratory test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, load cells, serial tools)
- Hands‑on experience with power electronics including MOSFETs, IGBTs, gate drivers, and power‑stage design.
- 5–10 years of electrical engineering experience, preferably in a manufacturing or electromechanical environment.
- PCB design experience including schematic capture, layout, BOM creation, and prototype testing (Altium preferred)
- Experience developing electromechanical systems such as actuators, propulsion systems, or motion‑control equipment.
- Embedded hardware experience including microcontroller circuit design, PWM, ADC/DAC, timers, and serial communication interfaces.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing workflows.
- Experience supervising technicians or supporting production teams.
- Experience in harsh‑environment or subsea/marine electromechanical product development.
- Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), DFMEA/PFMEA, ECOs, and product lifecycle documentation.
