Welder
Job description
- To guarantee proper construction and repairs, adhere to work instructions, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
- Carry out pre-weld preparation tasks, such as alignment, fit-up, and material cleaning.
- Carry out welding operations on a variety of metals, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and cast iron, employing techniques like SMAW, GTAW, MIG, and TIG.
- Inspect own welds visually and prepare workpieces for quality inspection by supervisors or quality personnel.
- Carry out basic cutting, grinding, and finishing operations as part of welding and fabrication duties.
- Ensure compliance with welding techniques, project specifications, and safety standards.
- Fill out the necessary welding job reports and associated paperwork.
- Maintain welding tools, machinery, and work space in good condition following 5S standards.
- Support workshop and site activities as instructed by the Foreman or Assistant Foreman.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of welding experience in a workshop, marine, or industrial context.
- Proficient in SMAW, GTAW, MIG, and TIG welding procedures, among others.
- The capacity to operate autonomously and adhere to guidelines with little guidance.
- The capacity and willingness to travel for site welding employment, such as working at shipyards or boarding ships.
