Hospital Quality Assurance Officer (Governance & Compliance)

Salary: ₦350,000 – ₦500,000 Net Monthly (Negotiable based on experience)

Job Summary

Our client, a leading healthcare organization, is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Hospital Quality Assurance Officer (Governance & Compliance) to support the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the hospital's Quality Management System (QMS).

The successful candidate will ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 , SafeCare Standards , infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols, healthcare regulations, and internal governance frameworks. The role will also support quality improvement initiatives, audit readiness, risk management, patient safety, and regulatory compliance to drive operational excellence and improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Hospital Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Assist in developing and executing the Annual Quality Improvement (QI) Plan.
  • Collect, analyze, and report departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Monitor departmental quality performance and recommend improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate continuous improvement projects using PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) methodology.
  • Promote a culture of quality, patient safety, and operational excellence across the organization.

Clinical Governance & Risk Management

  • Manage the hospital's incident reporting and risk management database.
  • Monitor incident investigations and ensure timely implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations and maintain appropriate documentation.
  • Track risk mitigation plans and monitor compliance with governance frameworks.

Quality Documentation & SOP Management

  • Maintain the hospital's document control system and quality records.
  • Ensure all policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are current, version-controlled, approved, and effectively communicated.
  • Coordinate periodic reviews of policies and quality documents.
  • Maintain quality records in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Audit & Regulatory Compliance

  • Support internal quality audits and external accreditation exercises.
  • Participate in ISO 9001:2015, SafeCare, and other healthcare quality assessments.
  • Monitor implementation of audit recommendations and corrective actions.
  • Maintain compliance evidence and audit readiness documentation.
  • Support compliance with healthcare regulatory bodies and statutory requirements.

Infection Prevention & Control (IPC)

  • Support infection prevention and control audits and compliance monitoring.
  • Conduct hand hygiene observations and compliance assessments.
  • Compile infection surveillance data and prepare reports.
  • Monitor adherence to IPC policies, protocols, and checklists.
  • Maintain IPC training records and documentation.

Data Privacy & Governance

  • Support compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) and other applicable data protection regulations.
  • Assist in preparing documentation for regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and quality records.
  • Monitor compliance with data privacy policies.

Patient Experience & Service Quality

  • Compile and analyze patient satisfaction surveys and feedback.
  • Monitor patient complaints and ensure timely resolution.
  • Generate periodic reports on patient experience and service quality trends.
  • Recommend improvement initiatives to enhance patient satisfaction.

Reporting & Performance Monitoring

  • Prepare weekly and monthly quality performance reports.
  • Track quality indicators, compliance metrics, and audit outcomes.
  • Maintain quality dashboards for management review.
  • Provide reports that support informed management decision-making.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, Healthcare Management, Public Health, Quality Management, or a related healthcare discipline.
  • Professional certifications in Quality Management, Healthcare Quality, ISO Lead Auditor, or Clinical Governance will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3–5 years' experience in Quality Assurance, Clinical Governance, Healthcare Compliance, or Hospital Accreditation.
  • Experience supporting ISO 9001:2015, SafeCare, JCI, COHSASA, or similar healthcare quality standards is highly desirable.
  • Experience conducting internal audits and quality improvement initiatives.
