Job Title: In-Town Laborer/Operator Reports To: Field Supervisor
Pay Range: $25-30/hr DOE

Job Summary
The Laborer/Operator performs a variety of physical tasks and equipment-operation duties to support skilled workers and overall project operations on construction sites. This role involves assisting with material handling, site preparation, and cleanup, as well as safely operating heavy machinery to excavate, load, grade, and install materials. Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist skilled trades personnel as directed; duties may include demolition, material handling, or general construction support.
- Unload, transport, and distribute materials to designated locations as directed by the supervisor, project plans, or specifications.
- Prepare work areas by measuring, marking, or recording openings and distances.
- Clean and prepare assigned jobsite areas, including digging trenches, removing debris, and ensuring the site is safe and organized.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools, as well as heavy earthmoving equipment such as motor graders, scrapers, dozers, and excavators, safely and efficiently.
- Perform daily machine inspections, checking fluids, wear parts, tires, glass, and general condition; report issues and needed maintenance immediately.
- Utilize GPS systems and read grade stakes and hubs for grade control and finishing.
- Direct and control traffic around work zones, and signal equipment operators to guide alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery and materials.
- Manage materials efficiently whether excavating, loading, placing, grading, or installing utilities, adapting to changing traffic, soil, and weather conditions.
- Maintain jobsite cleanliness at the end of each day by properly disposing of trash and safely storing tools, materials, and equipment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities

- Proficiency in spoken and written English is a mandatory requirement for this role, as it is essential for understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and participating in team communications.
Education and Experience
- Prior construction or labor experience preferred; willingness to labor and help the crew as needed.
- Three years of experience operating heavy earthmoving equipment (motor grader, scraper, dozer, excavator), including one year in industry-specific related equipment operation.
- Valid state-issued driver's license required.
Physical Requirements
- Must possess the physical strength, balance, coordination, and stamina to perform manual labor and operate machinery in a variety of conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push or pull loads up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to stand and walk for up to eight hours per day and climb multiple flights of stairs while carrying materials weighing 40–60 pounds.
- Availability to work weekends and nights as required by project needs.
