Overview
Lutron is looking for a Sales Manager - Lighting in Gurgaon to lead and grow the strategic lighting business by driving sales execution, shaping go‑to‑market strategy, and developing a high‑performing team. This role works collaboratively with sales and services teams, enabling channels and building strong relationships with specifiers, customers, and key stakeholders to deliver sustainable business growth.
The Sales Manager owns defined sales goals and plays a critical role in influencing strategic projects through direct market engagement, while removing internal barriers to execution by aligning people, resources, and priorities. As the lighting business continues to scale, this role is responsible for building leadership capability, coaching team members, and leading a growing team of approximately 1–3 people to support long‑term business objectives .
Responsibilities
- Lead the Intelligent Lighting business strategy and performance, partnering closely with sales and services teams to achieve defined sales and business development goals.
- Shape and execute the go‑to‑market strategy, including market and segment focus, specifier engagement approach, channel coverage, and prioritization of strategic projects.
- Act as the lighting sales leader and advocate, providing strategic direction, market insight, solution positioning, and enablement to support sales effectiveness and consistent execution.
- Maintain a strong field presence, engaging directly with specifiers, consultants, architects, designers, channel partners, and key customers to influence high‑impact opportunities.
- Provide hands‑on leadership and support on large, complex, and high‑value lighting projects, including solution strategy, commercial guidance, and risk assessment.
- Collaborate with sales leadership and cross‑functional partners to align priorities, remove execution barriers, and improve speed and quality of delivery.
- Develop and evolve the channel strategy, strengthening partner capability, coverage, joint planning, and long‑term growth initiatives.
- Monitor market trends, competitive dynamics, and pipeline health, using insights to inform decision‑making and proactive interventions.
- Build scalable processes, capabilities, and team structures to support growth, including hiring, coaching, and leading a growing lighting sales team.
- Foster a customer‑centric, collaborative, and accountable culture that supports sustainable business growth and reinforces the Lutron brand.
- Own and achieve overall sales targets, including strategic product and category goals, while supporting long‑term market development.
- Build and maintain senior‑level relationships with strategic specifiers and residential channel partners to strengthen Lutron’s market presence and influence.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and consultant, developing strategic business plans focused on product adoption, market development, and education of customers, partners, and internal teams.
- Partner with business units to support pilot programs, gather market feedback, and identify new ways to enhance customer experience and unlock growth opportunities.
- Support and co‑lead strategic account reviews, sales meetings, and long‑term vision discussions, contributing thought leadership and market perspective.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, Architecture, or a related discipline required
- Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) is preferred
- 12+ years of experience in sales, business development, or specification‑led selling, preferably within lighting, building technologies, electrical systems, or related B2B industries.
- Experience leading and developing sales teams or acting as a senior individual contributor with clear people‑leadership responsibilities
- Experience managing complex, long‑cycle sales, including large projects involving multiple stakeholders
- Demonstrated success working with channels, consultants, specifiers, architects, designers, and strategic customers
- Exposure to go‑to‑market strategy development, market expansion, and business scaling initiatives in India
- Experience influencing and closing high‑value, solution‑based projects
