Overview
GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Adult Justice Services Intake Specialist provides services in the areas of rehabilitation of adult offenders and protection of the public through clinical and case management activities in the areas of adult intake, probation, and parole. This position provides administrative duties related to the probation of adult justice services.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s degree in business, criminal justice, criminology, sociology, psychology, human services, social work, related field or equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of degree.
- One (1) year of experience in a related field.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Provides routine services in the areas of intake, probation, and parole; or entry level work within Adult Justice Department. • Casework determinations are tentative and require supervisory approval. Daily work is performed with justice involved persons. • Provides individual and group educational referrals. • Conducts intake interviews with offenders and their family members and develops case management plans. • Establishes, monitors, and maintains detail case files; ensures accurate and complete documentation of behaviors, attitudes, and action; prepares thorough and detailed reports and maintains records as necessary. • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with other staff, public officials, the general public, and representatives of other agencies. • Must be able to attend district court. • Attends and participated in required trainings. • Performs other duties, tasks, and services consistent with this position as assigned.
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY • Performs work under direct supervision. • Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
