Location Description

The Eugene, Oregon plant produces both organic and non‑organic granola, with annual production of up to 52 million pounds. The site supports a team of more than 200 manufacturing and support employees and plays an important role in supplying private label granola products across the U.S.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician roles are accountable for successful, timely, and accurate repair and maintenance of production and packaging equipment. Our Maintenance Technicians regularly inspect equipment, structures, and material for wear and tear, and are accountable for completing work orders and ad hoc repairs assigned to them. The Maintenance team will safely and effectively use hand tools and power tools to perform these repair and preventative maintenance tasks in a food safe and efficient manner.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with hand tools, power tools, shop equipment and mobile lifts to p erform daily maintenance tasks and troubleshooting of packaging, production and utilities equipment including: extruders, dryers, high speed packaging including cartoners, baggers, case-packers, palletizers, low pressure boilers, thermal fluid process heaters, material handling systems, water chillers, compressed air systems, and HVAC systems
  • Partner with operations and maintenance teams to solve repetitive problems, complete preventative maintenance and predictive maintenance responsibilities in a safe, effective, and compliant manner
  • Partner with operations to learn operating systems, while providing training on mechanical components
  • Utilize CMMS system for work orders, PM’s and parts location
  • Utilize equipment manuals, identify major equipment functions, and identify needed parts and assemblies for repair/replacement
  • Train operations staff on operating systems and operator basic care responsibilities
  • Become the primary tech owner of a production line.
  • Perform minor equipment rebuilds without support, (i.e. cylinders, valves etc)
  • Accurately execute preventive maintenance schedules as well as inform management of problem areas within their area
  • Responsible for taking necessary action on all food safety and quality problems reported or observed
  • Must exhibit sound judgment, tact, courtesy on a daily basis, and have excellent rapport with staff members.
  • Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience Required

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution and one or more of the following:
  • 2+ years hands-on experience in a mechanic, maintenance, electrical, electro-mechanical, controls and automation role
  • Basic computer skills to utilize CMMS tools and training opportunities

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Previous maintenance experience in a food manufacturing facility
  • Previous experience with MIG, TIG, and stick welding
  • Previous experience with power transmission components; belt drives, chain drives, bearings, motors & gears
  • Experience with operation and maintenance of forklifts, scissor lifts, and articulated lift

Physical Requirements: Qualified candidates must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Must be able to position self to bend, crouch, stoop, sit, and kneel for 4+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to balance for 8+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to move, traverse, stand, walk, ascend/descend stairs for 8+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to ascend/descend ladder, and reach above shoulders for 4+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to work in a dusty environment, high heat, or humidity for 8+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to transport or lift up-to 50 pounds infrequently
