We partner with leading electric and gas utilities to provide strategic advisory and disciplined execution across program management, business intelligence, and field execution oversight. Guided by integrity, trust, excellence, and accountability, our team helps deliver complex capital programs and build the resilient energy infrastructure that communities depend on.

Position Overview

CARIAN is seeking a Senior Data Analytics Developer, Power BI and AWS to join our team and deliver customer analytics, dashboarding, data engineering, and AI/ML-enabled insights for a major utility program in Newark, New Jersey.

This role will help transform raw operational, customer, and business data into actionable insights, dashboards, data products, and analytics solutions that support strategic decision-making and improve customer experience. The position will work closely with CARIAN leadership, client stakeholders, Customer Analytics, IT, and vendor teams to build Power BI dashboards, optimize data sources and pipelines, support analytics solution design, and incorporate data science, AI, and machine learning approaches where appropriate.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Power BI, AWS cloud services, SQL, Python, data modeling, data visualization, data engineering, and analytics delivery. Experience with customer analytics, call center operations, customer behavior analysis, or customer journey improvement is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, summarize, analyze, and deliver insights using data from multiple sources.
  • Develop data models and analytics solutions to support Power BI dashboards and reporting needs.
  • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance interactive Power BI dashboards that provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Identify valuable data sources and support optimization of data pipelines to improve data quality, integrity, security, and usability.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, Customer Analytics, IT, and vendor teams to gather requirements and translate business needs into analytics solutions.
  • Facilitate business requirements sessions between business stakeholders, IT, and vendors.
  • Facilitate and execute testing activities between business stakeholders, IT, and vendors.
  • Transform data to define analytics solutions that support customer experience improvement initiatives.
  • Incorporate AI and machine learning solutions into analytics use cases where appropriate.
  • Analyze operational and non-operational data to identify trends, patterns, customer friction points, customer behavior, and improvement opportunities.
  • Apply statistical analysis, data mining techniques, and scenario modeling to validate assumptions and support decision-making.
  • Interpret data to identify solutions, communicate insights, and support business decisions.
  • Develop and maintain SQL models, ETL workflows, and analytics logic to support reporting and dashboard development.
  • Use Python to support analytics, data processing, modeling, and AI/ML development.
  • Effectively communicate technical findings, insights, and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams.
  • Support responsible data use, data quality, documentation, and governance practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with data mining techniques, data modeling, statistical analysis, algorithms, or applied analytics.
  • 5+ years of experience with data visualization using Power BI or similar data visualization tools.
  • 5+ years of experience leveraging AWS services, including Redshift or similar cloud data platforms, to support scalable data pipelines and analytics solutions.
  • 5+ years of experience using Python for analytics, SQL modeling, data processing, or AI/ML model development.
  • 5+ years of experience using SQL and developing or maintaining ETL workflows, including SQL Server Integration Services or similar tools.
  • Experience working with large data sets and translating complex data into practical business insights.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, dashboard development, analytics delivery, and reporting best practices.
  • Ability to facilitate requirements discussions, testing sessions, stakeholder reviews, and cross-functional solution development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and concisely to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented, results-driven, data-driven, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule in Newark, New Jersey, including three days per week in office.

Preferred Experience
