Overview
At PepsiCo, we are looking for a proactive and analytical Maintenance Planning Manager to lead the maintenance planning strategy for our manufacturing site in Etxabarri-Ibiña (Vitoria-Gasteiz) .
This role is responsible for developing and executing an effective maintenance planning strategy that maximizes equipment reliability, plant availability, and operational efficiency while optimizing maintenance costs. The successful candidate will work closely with Production, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to ensure maintenance activities are safely planned, efficiently executed, and aligned with business priorities.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with excellent planning, analytical, and leadership capabilities to drive continuous improvement and maintenance excellence across the site.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Planning & Asset Reliability
- Develop and lead the site's maintenance planning strategy to maximize equipment reliability, availability, and operational performance.
- Design, optimize, and continuously improve preventive, predictive, and planned maintenance programs.
- Ensure maintenance plans are aligned with production schedules while minimizing downtime and operational disruption.
- Identify opportunities to improve asset reliability, maintenance effectiveness, and overall plant efficiency through data-driven decision making.
- Drive the effective implementation of SPARK maintenance standards and best practices across the site.
- Develop maintenance strategies that balance operational performance, asset lifecycle, and maintenance costs.
Maintenance Execution & Performance
- Coordinate and oversee maintenance shutdowns, planned outages, start-ups, and major maintenance activities.
- Ensure maintenance work is effectively planned, prioritized, scheduled, and executed according to business requirements.
- Monitor maintenance KPIs and analyze equipment performance to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Develop reporting systems and performance dashboards that support data-driven maintenance decisions.
- Ensure full compliance with maintenance plans, schedules, and operational targets.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead initiatives to improve maintenance planning processes, equipment reliability, and maintenance productivity.
- Promote the use of root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies to eliminate recurring equipment failures.
- Support reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), predictive maintenance, and condition monitoring initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement projects that enhance plant efficiency, reduce maintenance costs, and improve equipment performance.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in full compliance with PepsiCo safety standards and legal requirements.
- Promote a strong safety-first culture across all maintenance planning and execution activities.
- Ensure maintenance procedures and safe systems of work are effectively implemented throughout the plant.
- Support compliance with engineering regulations, technical standards, and internal maintenance policies.
Stakeholder & People Collaboration
- Partner closely with Production, Engineering, Reliability, and Maintenance teams to deliver business objectives.
- Support Front Line Managers and Maintenance Technicians in developing maintenance planning capabilities and technical competencies.
- Manage relationships with external engineering service providers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Negotiate and manage maintenance support contracts while ensuring cost efficiency and operational effectiveness.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Proven experience in Maintenance Planning, Maintenance Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or Maintenance Management within a manufacturing environment, preferably FMCG.
- Strong understanding of preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance methodologies.
- Experience developing maintenance strategies focused on equipment reliability, asset performance, and maintenance optimization.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret maintenance data and translate insights into improvement actions.
- Experience managing maintenance planning systems, KPIs, and reporting tools.
- Excellent planning, organization, and prioritization skills.
- Experience working with external contractors, engineering service providers, and suppliers.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
- Knowledge of engineering legislation, maintenance standards, and Health & Safety requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems (CMMS/SAP PM experience is highly desirable).
- Fluent in English; Spanish is highly desirable.
