Job description
You will guide communication between business stakeholders, data engineering teams, and analytics consumers. You will contribute across the analytics lifecycle including requirements analysis, data modeling, analytics-layer development, documentation, support, and enhancement of analytics solutions. Translate business requirements of limited scope into analytics-ready data models. You must also prepare technical specifications for Data Engineering teams, support self-service analytics users, and maintain analytics metadata. The analytics metadata includes entity relationship diagrams and data catalog documentation. You will work with experienced team members to understand how they collect, structure, and use data for analysis. You will get to focus on building foundational skills in SQL, data tools, and data workflows. You will report to the Analytics Engineer Associate Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Support data preparation and management activities by assisting with data extraction, cleansing, validation, and transformation using Azure Databricks and related data platforms.
- Develop basic SQL queries to analyze data, ensuring data accuracy and readiness for reporting and analytical purposes.
- Help document and maintain basic data structures, including tables, relationships, keys, and metadata, using tools such as DbSchema or similar data modeling platforms.
- Support the organization, classification, and management of datasets while developing knowledge of data concepts and database design principles.
- Support data cataloging and documentation efforts by maintaining dataset and metadata records in tools such as Atlan, while ensuring compliance with team documentation standards and data governance practices.
- Help prepare and validate data for dashboards and reports using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools, ensuring data is accurate and ready for analysis.
- Support reporting activities by performing basic data validation, troubleshooting discrepancies, and helping maintain the accuracy and reliability of reports and dashboards.
- Perform basic data quality checks to identify missing, duplicate, or inconsistent data and help maintain data accuracy and integrity.
- Help investigate and document data issues, escalating findings to appropriate team members for resolution.
- Develop knowledge of data pipelines, data transformations, and SQL while collaborating with team members, looking for guidance, and enhancing technical and analytical skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or global equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience with data concepts (tables, rows, columns) and data processing or programming concepts
- Basic knowledge of SQL language and Azure Databricks or similar platforms
- Interest in data analytics and data engineering
- Familiarity with tools like Atlan or DbSchema and exposure to Power BI or other BI tools
