Job description
The Production Scheduler is responsible for ensuring the efficient planning, coordination, and scheduling of raw materials and production activities within the rubber mixing facility. This role ensures that customer demand is met while optimizing inventory levels, minimizing downtime, and maximizing production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Planning & Inventory Management
- Plan and manage raw material requirements (polymers, chemicals, fillers, oils, etc.) to support production schedules
- Monitor inventory levels and maintain optimal stock to prevent shortages or excess inventory
- Track material usage, scrap, and variances to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Maintain accurate inventory records in SAP and ensure data integrity
- Support problem-solving for material shortages and production disruptions to minimize operational impact
Production Scheduling & Coordination
- Develop and maintain daily and weekly production schedules for mixing operations
- Sequence batches efficiently based on formulation, machine capacity, and changeover requirements
- Adjust schedules proactively based on demand changes, equipment downtime, or material availability
- Ensure alignment between production, customer orders, and inventory targets
Performance Monitoring & Communication
- Monitor key performance indicators including schedule adherence, inventory turns, and on-time delivery
- Communicate schedule changes and potential risks proactively to relevant stakeholders
- Collaborate with quality and operations teams to support continuous improvement initiatives
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure planning aligns with safety standards and handling requirements for chemicals and rubber compounds
- Follow company procedures for inventory control, storage, and traceability
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:
- Associate's in Business or related field, or 4+ years of experience in material planning, production scheduling, or manufacturing operations in lieu of an Associate's
- 2+ years experience in manufacturing environment (preferred: rubber, plastics or chemicals)
- Strong knowledge in ERP systems
- Ability to work cross-functionally and adapt to change priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis

ADDITIONAL WAYS TO STAND OUT:
- APICS/CPIM certification
- Understanding of lean manufacturing and just-in-time principles
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain
- Strong knowledge in SAP
