Job description

HIM CLERK WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Preparing patient surgical charts and gathering information documents from patients.
  • Ensuring that the medical records / surgical charts are organized, accurate and complete.
  • Management and filing of patient records, paperwork and reports.
  • Safeguarding patient records and ensuring that everyone complies with HIPAA standards.
  • Collaborating with Nursing staff to obtain a required pre admission documents in advance of scheduled surgery.
  • Assisting Pre-Op and PACU with records/document needs.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Knowledge of the medical record function and medical terminology. Advanced computer skills also required.
  • Know the definitions of fundamental computer terms related to applications software and desktop PC's
  • Know how to open, read, and respond to email
  • Know how to manage electronic files
  • Know how to print electronic documents and reports

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • 1-3 years' experience in a medical setting preferred.

  • None required.
