Function/Duties of Position
OHSU classification : Program Technician 1, represented by AFSCME 328 union, subject to the active collective bargaining agreement.
This Program Technician 1, which will be internally referred to as CTMS Specialist, provides technical support for the development, maintenance, and quality control of clinical trial calendars and budgets within the OnCore Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS). This role ensures accurate system configuration aligned with study protocols, Medicare Coverage Analyses, and institutional policies, supporting compliant billing and efficient clinical trial operations.
The CTMS Specialist serves as a technical resource to clinical research teams by building and maintaining study calendars and budgets within OnCore and ensuring alignment with billing designations and study requirements. This role supports both pre-award study startup and post-award amendments, helping to reduce errors, improve data quality, and minimize downstream rework.
The position also contributes to standardization of CTMS processes by developing training materials, supporting policy and procedure documentation, and identifying opportunities for process improvement across oncology clinical research operations.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
Three years of experience administering or coordinating parts or subsets of a project or program.
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, or a field directly related to the position will substitute for two years of the required experience.
Relevant experience should include
- Experience with clinical trial management systems (e.g., OnCore)
- Experience interpreting clinical trial protocols and translating into operational workflows
- Experience developing training materials and delivering process-based training
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Familiarity with clinical research operations and study startup processes
- Knowledge of clinical research billing concepts, including Medicare Coverage Analysis
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage complex data accurately
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks at one time
- Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills: both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team while being collaborative in resolving problems
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Access, Word, and PowerPoint) on Window OS
- Must have demonstrated excellent customer service skills both on the phone and in person
- Must possess energy and drive to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain effective working relationships
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with oncology clinical research in an academic medical center
- Demonstrated experience driving process improvement or operational transformation initiatives
