Job description

General Purpose

The Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Analyst II is the second level in the AML series. While working under general supervision, the AML Analyst II is responsible for monitoring compliance with state and federal Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), USA PATRIOT ACT, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), and OFAC (Office of Foreign Asset Control) laws and regulations.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Responsible for day-to-day monitoring, reporting, and control processes within the BSA/AML department.
  • Ensures compliance with Customer Identification Program (CIP) requirements.
  • Conducts ongoing due diligence and enhanced due diligence (EDD) monitoring of high-risk customer relationships.
  • Conducts investigations related to cash transactions and suspicious activity including completion of required regulatory reporting.
  • Reviews the bank's watch list program including uploading lists, validating potential matches, and reporting hits when applicable.
  • Serves as a point of contact for all BSA/OFAC related matters.
  • Stays abreast of regulatory changes, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Prepares documents for audits and examinations.
  • Regular and reliable on-site attendance is required as an essential function of this position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability

  • A high degree of professionalism and work ethic; polished.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, dependability, and the ability to communicate with all levels in the department.
  • Strong detail orientation and organizational skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge in standard banking concepts, practices, and procedures regarding bank compliance.
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and develop solid judgement.
  • Knowledge of when to refer to a supervisor or senior staff when issues need escalation.
  • Skilled in research and problem resolution.
  • Ability to understand banking related regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze banking activities and characteristics to assess potential risk.

Education or Formal Training

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) equivalent required.
  • Associate's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or similar preferred.
  • BSA/AML Certification preferred or obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Pursues required training and professional certifications upon hire.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado Driver's License required.

Experience

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of working with regulatory documents preferably in a financial or banking environment.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis.

Working Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment, that may have a hybrid schedule to include in-office and remote work on select days but may change at management discretion. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and multifunction printers. Travel to conferences, meetings and branch locations may be required on occasion.

These are representative of those which must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This is largely a sedentary role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Good eyesight and hand/finger dexterity are required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to remain calm and professional with intense conversations. Employee may have to lift up to 25 pounds.
