Position Highlights

The University of Arizona, Campus Health Service (CHS) seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Nursing Manger II (Immunization and Infection Prevention Manager). This position is responsible for providing quality nursing care to Campus Health Service (CHS) patients and overseeing the Immunization and Travel Clinic, Workforce Member (WFM) Compliance Program, and Infection Prevention Program. This position provides supervision and operational leadership to support clinical services, regulatory compliance, quality improvement initiatives, and evidence-based nursing practices across multiple Campus Health departments.

Duties & Responsibilities

Immunization and Travel Clinic

  • Daily management of the Immunization & Travel Clinic operations to ensure compliance with national, state, university, and regulatory agency regulations, including Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Care (AAAHC) accreditation standards.
  • Manages the ordering, inventory, and storage of vaccines.
  • Oversees staff that maintain immunization standing orders, policies, and vaccine information sheets.
  • Keeps up to date with the immunization and information via the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), Immunize.org and other resources.
  • Participates in quality improvement project.
  • Collects data and review clinical reports on performance metrics of the Immunization/Travel Clinics.
  • Liaison with Study Abroad programs, or delegate to current staff.
  • Liaison with Medical Records regarding immunization requirements.
  • Serves on committees assigned.

Workforce Member (WFM) Compliance Program

  • Oversees workforce members in partnership with Department of Occupational Health (OH), Environmental Health & Safety (EHS).
  • Serves as a point of contact for EHS, OH, Pima County Health Department, and WFMs.

Infection Prevention Program

  • Remains up to date on information related to infection prevention though the Association for Professional in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC); Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Obtain or maintain APIC Infection Prevention Certification.
  • Compiles Annual Infection Prevention Summary, Risk Assessment and Focus Priority assessments.
  • Leads the Infection Prevention Committee meetings and serve as Quality Improvement committee member.
  • Reviews and update WFM Educational Modules.
  • Manages annual Tuberculosis Surveillance Program and reporting.

Cross Training and Clinical Operations Support

  • This position will cross train with the Clinical Nursing Supervisor to provide operational and clinical leadership support as needed. Responsibilities may include:
  • Maintaining familiarity with triage processes, patient flow, and daily clinical operations.
  • Assisting with oversight and supervision of Medical Assistants, including providing guidance and support to ensure efficient clinic operations.
  • Coordinating and facilitating Immunization and Medical Clinic Nursing staff meetings, including agenda development, communication, and follow up on action items.
  • Promoting team engagement, participation, collaboration, and staff morale through positive leadership and effective communication.
  • Serving as a resource to nursing and support staff and assisting with operational needs during periods of increased workload or supervisor absence.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) regulation/standards of care.
  • Knowledge in infection and prevention practices.
  • Knowledge of occupational health immunization requirements.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement techniques and data collection.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications, including Excel.
  • Knowledge of Zoom and skill in scheduling and conducting virtual meetings.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Health Informatics skills.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of five years of related work experience, including two years of managerial experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Licensed in the State of Arizona as a Registered Nurse.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy .

Preferred Qualifications

  • APIC Certification in Infection Prevention.
