Job description
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with business users and stakeholders to gather, analyse, and translate requirements into clear and actionable system designs and technical specifications, with consideration for reliability, scalability, and operational readiness on AWS and OpenShift Container Platform (OCP)
- Collaborate with the agile team to plan, priorities, and deliver system enhancements and new features in a timely and quality manner, ensuring non-functional requirements such as availability, performance, and resilience are addressed
- Review system designs and technical specifications to ensure all requirements are accurately captured and aligned to system objectives, and incorporate reliability and security considerations
- Manage and coordinate with outsourced vendors and in-house developers to ensure enhancement deliveries meet quality, timeline, and reliability expectations.
- Identify opportunities to continuously improve system performance, reliability, deployment pipelines, and delivery practices through SRE and DevOps principles
- Plan, execute, and support system implementation, software and hardware upgrades, security patches, and cloud infrastructure changes on AWS and OCP environments
- Manage change requests and service requests, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to the change management process, including risk assessment for cloud-hosted workloads
- Support capacity planning and performance tuning of applications running on AWS and OCP to ensure systems scale reliably with demand
- Provide production support on a need basis, including troubleshooting of issues, root cause analysis, and working with vendors on preventive measures to minimize recurrence
- Lead and participate in incident response, including on-call support where required, conducting thorough post-incident reviews (PIRs) and blameless post-mortems to drive systemic improvements and minimize recurrence
- Define, monitor, and report on Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) to maintain agreed service reliability targets and inform prioritization decisions
- Implement and maintain observability practices including logging, metrics, and distributed tracing using tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent, to enable proactive detection and faster resolution of issues
- Drive automation of toil — repetitive manual operational tasks — through scripting and tooling to improve team efficiency and system reliability
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree or higher in IT or equivalent
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in system analysis, application development, or enhancement delivery on Java and .NET applications in both Unix and Windows operating environments
- Experience in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with business users, various IT teams, and vendors to deliver solutions effectively
- Some experience in production support, incident management, and root cause analysis will be an advantage
- Knowledge of web languages such as HTML/CSS and JavaScript
- Familiarity with databases such as Oracle and Microsoft SQL, and application servers such as IIS and WebSphere Application Server
- Self-driven, creative, and team-oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex requirements into practical solutions
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
- Certification or formal training in ITIL will be an added advantage
