Operations Supervisor - Melbourne Park Permanent | Full-time

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking an experienced Venue and Event operations professional with strong leadership capability, broad operational experience and the adaptability to support event delivery across the Melbourne Park precinct.

Reporting to the Operations Manager – Major Events, this role will provide flexible operational support across all venues, assisting during peak demand periods while also playing a key role in the delivery of outdoor major events and external activations.

You will lead and supervise operational teams to ensure event requirements are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard, while maintaining a strong focus on customer experience, risk management and operational excellence. With strong technical and operational knowledge across the precinct, you will act as a versatile and dependable resource within the broader Operations team, contributing to event planning, venue readiness, team leadership and the successful delivery of world-class events.

Key Responsibilities: Event Planning & Delivery Oversee event logistics and resource coordination, lead operational teams, support daily venue activities, manage assets and workforce practices, and ensure events are delivered in line with plans, procedures and standards.

Customer Experience (Client & Guest) Ensure a consistently high-quality client and guest experience by building strong stakeholder relationships, understanding customer needs, maintaining compliance and using feedback to improve services.

Risk, Security & Safety Management Prioritise safety across all operations by leading event safety planning, promoting proactive risk management, ensuring compliance with standards and mitigating identified risks.

Strategy & Change Leadership Support operational improvements and organisational change initiatives, actively contribute to strategic programs and champion company values and vision within the team.

Best Practice & Learning Maintain strong operational knowledge, apply continuous improvement practices, share expertise and pursue ongoing professional development.

Team Training & Supervision Lead and develop event teams through coaching and performance management, ensuring clarity of roles, strong collaboration and alignment with organisational values.

ABOUT YOU You are a proactive and safety-focused operational leader who thrives in fast-paced event environments. You are confident leading diverse teams, solving problems in real time and ensuring exceptional event delivery standards.

You have

  • Demonstrated experience and a deep operational understanding of event planning and delivery, both indoor and greenfield, with solid venue technical operational knowledge and team leadership skills in a similar precinct venue environment.
  • Proven ability to step into a variety of operational environments and lead teams with confidence, professionalism and sound decision-making during high-pressure and fast-moving event delivery periods.
  • Strong adaptability and a willingness to learn, grow and embrace new challenges in an environment where priorities can shift quickly, projects are ambitious and operational frameworks continue to evolve.
  • A collaborative and solutions-focused approach, with the initiative and operational awareness required to deliver exceptional outcomes and memorable client experiences across a diverse range of events and venues.
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of OHS and safe work practices
  • Strong people management and coordination skills along with an innate self-motivated drive and attention to detail to ensure the job gets done right every time.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise competing tasks, delegate effectively, communicate clearly and work both autonomously and as part of a broader operational leadership team.
  • Current Driver Licence and Forklift Licence.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and a willingness to embrace technology and innovation to improve operational efficiencies and event delivery outcomes.

Advantageous but not essential

  • Experience using tools, machinery and equipment for assembly and maintenance tasks.
  • Experience with Event Management Software (Momentus preferred) and/or CAD programs.
  • Technical audiovisual or staging qualifications and experience with troubleshooting capability.
  • Relevant certifications such as CI, First Aid & CPR, Working at Heights, EWP, OH&S or Warden certification.
  • Familiarity with large-scale productions including rigging, staging, lighting and audio.
  • Qualifications relevant to the Venue & Events Industry.
