The Data Analyst Intern will collaborate with the National Center of Development Operations team to transform data into actionable insights that support our mission. This position is perfect for those who have a passion for data and wish to witness firsthand how analysis influences real-world decisions across fundraising, programs, or community outreach.

The American Heart Association's Internship Program provides students with invaluable hands-on experience in diverse aspects of our operations, ideal for those interested in the non-profit and health sectors.

Internship Overview:
• Commitment: 25 hours per week
• Duration: 5/18/26-8/21/26
• Location: Remote position
• Compensation: $23.00 per hour

Internship Outcomes:

Responsibilities

Your tasks may include:
• Retrieving, processing, and analyzing program data.
• Cleaning, organizing, and validating datasets related to programs, donors, or operations.
• Creating reports and dashboards using Excel and Tableau.
• Assisting with exploratory analysis to identify trends in participation, fundraising, or outcomes.
• Documenting data sources and definitions to enhance data clarity.
• Helping present findings to cross-functional teams in clear, visual formats for non-technical audiences.

Qualifications
• Senior undergraduate or graduate students in data science, computer science, statistics, math, economics, or related fields.
• Proven experience in building dashboards in Tableau.
• Familiarity with SQL or Python/R is a plus.
• Knowledge of UI/UX design principles to craft intuitive and visually appealing data visualizations.
• Strong understanding of data analysis or statistical methodologies preferred.
• Excellent proficiency in Excel.
• Attention to detail and strong curiosity.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Professionalism in a corporate or non-profit environment, with a knack for managing projects from inception to completion.
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, juggling multiple priorities.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi connection.
• Availability: A minimum of 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Central Time.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, present or future. Remote work must be conducted within the U.S.
