Data Engineer (Legacy Stack — Oracle/Informatica/COBOL)

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer with a strong background in legacy data platforms to join our financial services client's team in Smithfield, Rhode Island. This is a hybrid role requiring 1 day per week onsite. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Oracle, Informatica ETL, and the ability to work with COBOL-based systems.

Required Skills

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering, data warehousing and analytics

• 7+ years of experience with Relational Databases — Oracle preferred

• Advanced SQL — complex queries, stored procedures (must be able to debug)

• 5+ years with Informatica or any other ETL tools — data integration and data movement design patterns

• 5+ years in Shell scripting — K-Shell and Bash

• 5+ years working on Linux and AIX

• Ability to understand and work with COBOL and Pro*C (not writing, but reading/compiling)

• Solid understanding of domain-based design, data modeling and data structures

• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD

• Agile environment experience — Kanban and Scrum

Nice to Have

• Python experience

• Apache Tomcat

• OBIEE or other BI/analytics tools

• AWS, Azure, or Airflow

• Financial services domain knowledge
