Summary

As a Lead Welder in the Department of Navy, you will be responsible for assisting in various critical naval shipyard operations. This role involves overseeing welding tasks across multiple work sites, including Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Trident Refit Facility Bangor, and Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility.

Key Responsibilities

You will:
• Communicate instructions to your team effectively.
• Monitor and report on the progress of work.
• Conduct inspections of work sites for compliance and safety.
• Receive and execute job assignments from your welding supervisor.
• Document progress and any needs for assistance on shifts.

Requirements

Conditions of Employment:
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must be eligible for federal employment.
• Must enroll in the direct deposit pay program.
• Initial employment requires successful completion of the E-Verify verification check.
• Military retirees must comply with 5 United States Code 3326 regarding employment within 180 days post-retirement.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must register for Selective Service.
• This may be a bargaining unit position.
• Must pass a pre-appointment physical examination.
• Security clearance is required, with the need to maintain it throughout employment.
• This position requires a pre-employment drug test and may involve random drug testing.
• Personal protective equipment must be worn as required.
• Work may involve exposure to hazardous materials and situations.
• Travel may be necessary domestically and internationally.
• Work hours may include nights, weekends, and holidays to satisfy mission needs.
