Source One Technical Solutions is helping our client, an autonomous vehicle company, hire a Mechanical Design Engineer – Sustaining Infotainment to join the Advanced Hardware Engineering team.

In this role, you will design and launch systems that integrate infotainment and interior sensing components into an autonomous vehicle platform. This position is ideal for a collaborative mechanical engineer experienced in designing electromechanical systems in complex vehicle environments and driving designs from concept through production.

Key Responsibilities
• Design complex electromechanical assemblies while balancing requirements from multiple stakeholders including studio designers, product managers, optical engineers, acoustics engineers, vehicle architects, and cross-functional design teams.
• Manage design and development activities across internal teams and external suppliers to ensure successful delivery of system components.
• Lead design validation and production validation efforts for assigned systems.
• Support test engineering, supplier quality engineering, and supplier teams with test design, failure analysis, and quality management.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and quality engineers to ramp production processes and meet build objectives.
• Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and document/approve build processes.
• Support quality and cost engineering efforts across the supply chain.

Qualifications
• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of industry experience (automotive experience preferred)
• Strong 3D CAD design experience (CATIA V5/V6 preferred)
• Experience designing electronic modules in automotive environments
• Proven ability to solve packaging, structural, thermal, and reliability challenges
• Experience managing engineering requirements and validation in an Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) system
• Knowledge of die casting, injection molding, and sheet metal design
• Familiarity with automotive sensing technologies and electromechanical system integration
• Experience bringing products from concept through production ramp

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications
• Experience with Human-Machine Interface (HMI), audio, or camera system design
• Hands-on experience with machining, 3D printing, electronics, and hand tools
• Experience managing international supply chains and performing supplier audits
• Track record of launching high-volume electronic products
• Experience managing Tier 1 suppliers and contract manufacturers

About the Role

The engineer in this role will support the development and deployment of systems across our client’s autonomous vehicle fleet. Responsibilities include system design, validation in automotive environments, supplier coordination, and ongoing manufacturing and service support.
