Job description

The Business Solutions Manager (BSM) plays a critical role in enabling effective portfolio management, financial stewardship, and governance across a designated business domain. Acting as a strategic partner to Business Solution Partners (BSPs), Enterprise PMO, and delivery teams, the BSM ensures initiatives are well prioritized, decision ready, and aligned to enterprise objectives.

This role focuses on opportunity intake, portfolio transparency, financial and resourcing coordination, and executive reporting. Strengthening the systems and insights that allow delivery teams to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio & Opportunity Management
• Lead early stage opportunity intake and assessment, including Initial Project Assessments (IPAs).
• Manage opportunity and demand data within enterprise portfolio management tools (e.g., Clarity).
• Coordinate development of Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates for select initiatives, partnering with business and delivery stakeholders.
• Maintain portfolio level views that provide visibility into initiatives, demand, and capacity.

Financial & Resourcing Stewardship
• Coordinate PM and Business Analyst resourcing requests in partnership with Enterprise PMO.
• Perform portfolio level financial analysis, including forecasting, spend tracking, and funding scenarios.
• Support annual planning, mid year cost reviews, and end of year financial activities.
• Provide financial insights to inform prioritization, trade offs, and change control decisions.

Reporting & Governance
• Support executive and leadership reporting, including Agile and portfolio dashboards.
• Ensure initiatives meet governance readiness standards prior to approval forums.
• Partner with stakeholders to improve data quality, consistency, and transparency across reporting tools.
• Facilitate portfolio and governance related meetings as needed.

Stakeholder Partnership
• Serve as a key liaison between Business, Business Solution Partners, Enterprise PMO, and delivery teams.
• Advise stakeholders on prioritization, funding options, resourcing strategies, and portfolio impacts.
• Promote consistent application of enterprise portfolio and governance practices.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience in portfolio management, PMO, financial analysis, or enterprise delivery environments.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into executive level insights.
• Experience working with portfolio management or financial tracking tools (e.g., Clarity, PPM tools).
• Proven ability to partner with senior stakeholders and influence without direct authority.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in healthcare, insurance, or large regulated enterprises.
• Familiarity with Agile delivery models and portfolio reporting.
• Prior experience supporting enterprise planning or governance forums.
