Intern I – Technical
Overview
We are seeking a Technical Intern to support software development, code evaluation, and analytical problem-solving initiatives within a collaborative engineering environment. This role is ideal for students or early-career professionals looking to gain hands-on experience in DoD-focused technical programs, including exposure to secure systems, coding standards, and performance optimization.
Responsibilities
• Develop and propose technical problem sets and solution approaches aligned with software engineering objectives
• Write clear, efficient, and well-documented code snippets across supported programming languages
• Analyze and evaluate code for:
• Correctness
• Performance optimization
• Scalability and maintainability
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions with senior engineers
• Support testing, debugging, and documentation efforts in lab or development environments
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and technical knowledge sharing
• Perform additional duties as assigned in support of program objectives
• All other duties assigned
Qualifications
• Proficiency in at least one programming language:
• Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, C#, or SQL
• Strong written communication skills, including technical writing and documentation
• Ability to think critically and solve structured technical problems
• Familiarity with basic software development concepts:
• Data structures
• Algorithms
• Debugging techniques
• Version control (e.g., Git) preferred
Physical Requirements
• Able to lift up to 20 lbs.
• Able to bend, stretch, and twist
• Able to stand or sit for long periods of time
Clearance:
• DoD secret level or the ability to obtain one.
Education & Experience:
• A bachelor's degree (completed or in progress) in computer science, software engineering, Information Technology or related field.
• Previous experience as an intern or school projects doing Software Developer, Coder, Software Engineer, or Programmer
Location:
• Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland.
• Monday-Friday 8:00 to 5:00 EST.
