Job description

Responsibilities of the SAM Analyst involve efficiently handling software assets within the organization. This includes overseeing the tracking, monitoring, and management of software licenses to ensure compliance with licensing agreements and to optimize software usage for cost-effective operations. Working closely with various departments enables the SAM Analyst to maintain effective management of the organization's software assets throughout their lifecycle.

Essential Job Function

  • Supervise software licenses to ensure that the organization meets the requirements set forth in licensing agreements.
  • This includes monitoring license usage, conducting audits, and maintaining an accurate inventory of software assets.
  • Compliance Assurance is the process of confirming that the organization complies with software licensing agreements and regulatory standards.
  • This includes carrying out frequent evaluations, tackling instances of non-conformity, and instituting corrective measures where required.
  • Cost Optimization: Discover possibilities for improving software usage and lowering expenditures.
  • This entails evaluating how software is utilized, bargaining with suppliers, and advising on the most economical licensing selections.
  • Ensure that an exact and updated list of software assets is maintained to monitor the software inventory efficiently.
  • This includes overseeing the process of installing, utilizing, and retiring software.
  • Cultivating and managing partnerships with software vendors is crucial in Vendor Management.
  • Maintaining licensing deals, overseeing vendor performance, and dealing with any emerging concerns are all part of the job.
  • Policy Implementation: Execute rules and guidelines for managing software assets to enhance the overall governance of software within the organization.
  • Defining roles and responsibilities, setting up governance frameworks, and establishing guidelines for software usage are all part of the process.
  • Tasked with generating reports, professionals are required to analyze software asset management endeavors comprehensively.
  • The process encompasses following key indicators of success, spotting patterns, and proposing ways to enhance performance.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work alongside multiple departments like IT, procurement, finance, and legal to guarantee the successful administration of software assets.
  • This involves coordinating efforts, sharing information, and addressing any challenges that may arise.
  • Executes any other responsibilities as delegated.

Education

  • Required: A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, business administration, or a related field

Experience

  • Required: 3 years experience in in software asset management, IT asset management, or a related field Preferred: Experience with software asset management tools and technologies is also beneficial.
