The Hardware Asset Management Analyst is responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of hardware assets within an organization, ensuring efficient utilization, tracking, and maintenance of these assets. The HAM Analyst works closely with various departments, including IT, procurement, finance, and legal, to ensure that the organization's hardware assets are effectively managed throughout their lifecycle.
Essential Job Function
- Asset Tracking: Keep a precise record of all hardware assets, comprising computers, servers, external devices, and related equipment.
- Developing strategies for monitoring and reporting includes setting up protocols to oversee how hardware assets are used, where they are located, and their current state, producing consistent reports for managerial review.
- Procurement Coordination: Partner with procurement units to secure efficient procurement of fresh hardware and the renewal of antiquated devices.
- Lifecycle Management includes monitoring hardware assets from acquisition through disposal to guarantee they meet organizational policies and standards.
- Compliance and Security: Confirm the alignment of hardware assets with security measures and regulatory obligations by conducting frequent inspections and evaluations.
- Vendor Management: Coordinate with hardware vendors for negotiations on contracts, warranty disputes, and service contract terms.
- The analysis of hardware usage patterns is essential for recognizing areas where savings can be made and operations can be streamlined.
- Record comprehensive details of hardware assets, which should encompass serial numbers, purchase specifics, and maintenance track record.
- Executes tasks as directed by superiors.
Education
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field
Experience
- Required: 3 years experience in hardware asset management or related field Technical Expertise: Proficient in hardware asset management systems and tools
