Full Stack AI Engineer – Contract

Duration: 3-month proof of concept, with 18–24 month full project engagement

Start: Immediate – candidates available to interview ASAP are strongly preferred

Location: Onsite in Indianapolis, IN

The Opportunity

Robert Half is hiring for a Full Stack AI Engineer to lead a groundbreaking initiative — the first AI project of its kind for the state of Indiana. This is a rare chance to own the full lifecycle of an enterprise AI solution from proof of concept through production, working directly alongside legal professionals across eight departments including fraud detection and litigation.

You won't be a cog in a machine here. You'll be the architect, the builder, and the communicator — translating complex AI concepts into actionable outcomes for a highly engaged, non-technical stakeholder group. What You'll Build

You will design and deliver a repeatable, scalable AI framework built on AWS Bedrock and supporting infrastructure, including:

  • RAG pipelines integrating LLMs with vector search for intelligent, context-aware retrieval
  • Data ingestion and contextual chunking pipelines from public APIs and internal sources
  • Machine learning models (including deep learning) to address real-world legal and business challenges
  • AI infrastructure: data pipelines, training environments, and production monitoring systems
  • APIs and lightweight UIs that surface actionable insights for end users
  • Automated agents to streamline workflows across multiple departments

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is a full-stack thinker — someone who can navigate data models, model deployment, and stakeholder communication without missing a beat.

Technical Requirements

  • Strong Python proficiency; experience with ML/AI frameworks and open systems
  • Hands-on experience with SQL, NoSQL, and vector databases
  • Proven ability to build and maintain RAG pipelines and LLM integrations
  • Experience with AWS Bedrock and broader AWS ecosystem; flexibility with infrastructure choices
  • Ability to manage API rate limits, batching strategies, and performance optimization
  • Full lifecycle development experience — from ingestion to deployment to monitoring
