Veterinary Medical Center | EquineThe Veterinary Medical Center at The Ohio State University is recruiting a Veterinary Care Technician (RVT) within the specialty area of Equine Surgery and Sports Medicine. The successful candidate will assist team clinicians and care-giving colleagues with the reception, evaluation, and treatment of all patients within the Equine Surgery unit.
The position involves organizing, directing, and providing helpful and collegial assistance to clinicians, residents, professional students and technical students during appointments along with providing support for lameness evaluations and sterile joint preparations, jogging with horse in hand, assisting with general patient exams and restraint for procedures and assisting with diagnostic services such as digital radiographs, ultrasound, and other advanced imaging modalities. This position also provides surgical assistance such as preparing patient and equipment for surgery, placing IV catheter and administer preoperative medications, setting up appropriate equipment and instruments and cleaning and disinfecting operating rooms, equipment, and related areas. Work also includes providing technical support during procedures such as upper airway endoscopy, treadmill evaluations, and shockwave therapy, assisting with regenerative therapies and procedures (PRP, ACP, IRAP, and Stem Cell), as well as overseeing, assisting, and instructing professional veterinary and technical students in preparation of patients and equipment for medical procedures and delivery of care. The person in this position will also check-in and discharge patients using proper protocols, document in ezyVet – charge entry, patient vitals and weight, and provide general client communication.
Position may involve floating or cross-training through various areas to develop skills and techniques.

Hiring Range - $23.99 - $29.95 per hour
