Job description

  • This position provides coverage to inpatient adults and the special care nursery (2a) at Milton District Hospital (3 days/week), and the oncology clinic at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital site (2 days/week). 
  • Utilize expertise in nutrition screening and assessment to ascertain the specific nutritional requirements of diverse patient demographics
  • Assess the efficacy of nutrition care plans and recommend necessary adjustments as warranted
  • Employ professional discretion to modify and implement guidelines, protocols, and professional care standards in response to evolving patient requirements
  • Analyze emerging trends and advancements in dietary methodologies, exploring their suitability for integration into the clinical nutrition regimen.
  • Serve as an educator by designing, delivering, and/or engaging in training sessions and in-service educational initiatives
  • Completion of a four-year Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition/Dietetics and an accredited dietetic internship program
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
  • Member of Dietitians of Canada, an asset
  • Minimum of 2 years’ clinical experience in an inpatient hospital setting
  • Strong knowledge of clinical nutrition requirements, particularly in inpatient adult care, special care nursery and pediatrics, and oncology
  • Experience with developing and applying nutrition care plans for diverse patient populations
  • Experience with Enteral and Parenteral nutrition support, required
  • Self-directed with strong critical thinking skills and ability to handle complex situations
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic and rapidly changing healthcare environment
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to advocate effectively on behalf of patients and the profession itself
  • Effectively prioritizes and manages workload both independently and collaboratively
  • Demonstrates a caring, respectful and professional approach
  • The capacity to work cohesively as part of a collaborative team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Meditech Expanse (or comparable computer software programs)

Status: Temporary Full-time (Approx. 15 months)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7.5 hour shifts; 0800 - 1600 (subject to change based on operational requirements)

Salary: $40.011 to $56.425 per hour
