Job description

Position Summary

The Level 1 Fabricator Supports the fabrication of structural steel components including beams, columns, and plates in a production shop environment. This entry level role focuses on safe work practices, learning fabrication processes, and assisting experienced fabricators and welders with steel preparation and assembly.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in the fabrication of structural steel components such as beams, columns and base plates
  • Measure, mark, and prepare structural steel using tape measures, squares, and calipers
  • Perform cutting, grinding, beveling, cleaning, and deburring of steel materials
  • Operate basic shop equipment including band saws, drill presses, grinders, and forklifts
  • Read and follow shop drawings and work instructions with guidance
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA standards, and PPE requirements

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED ( or equivalent experience)
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure to 1/16" and calipers
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn structural steel fabrication
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and perform physical work in a shop environment
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work as a part of a team

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Indoor industrial fabrication shop
  • Exposure to noise, sparks, fumes, dust, welding arcs, and heavy steel materials
  • Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive motion
