Job description

Are you passionate about elevated guest service, polished hospitality, and creating exceptional dining experiences in a refined lounge setting? We are seeking a professional, poised, and service-driven Shift Lead to join our team in our unique speakeasy-style lounge at the St. James Hotel.


As a Shift Lead, you will play an essential role in guiding the front-of-house team and ensuring each shift runs smoothly with a strong focus on detail, ambiance, and personalized guest experience. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a sophisticated, intimate environment and understands the importance of thoughtful hospitality, seamless execution, and maintaining a distinctive guest experience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Execute and oversee the shift responsibilities of servers, bartenders, and support staff to ensure smooth and polished service 
  • Lead the team through clear communication, coaching, support, and accountability 
  • Uphold the elevated service standards, atmosphere, and guest experience at all times 
  • Respond to guest needs and resolve service concerns professionally, discreetly, and with a hospitality-first approach 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting environment throughout the lounge 
  • Ensure attention to detail in all aspects of service, presentation, and overall flow of the shift 
  • Enforce established systems, policies, and procedures to support consistency and operational excellence 
  • Assist with training, onboarding, and developing team members to maintain a knowledgeable and service-focused staff 
  • Ensure compliance with all health, sanitation, and safety standards •

  • Experience in restaurant or lounge service 
  • The ability to lead by example and foster a polished, team-oriented culture 

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and six months to one year related experience/training in a premier restaurant, lounge, or banquet facility; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
  • Proficient use of Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet,
  • Able to demonstrate good verbal, written, and communication skills with attention to detail and interpersonal relationships with guests and employees.
  • Critical thinking, problem solving, and prioritization skills.
  • Must be able to relate to all different types of people from different cultures and backgrounds. Must establish trust between customers and the company, and must give the impression of sincerity, empathy and willingness to serve the customer.
