Qiddiya Investment Company is seeking a highly experienced Senior Director - Development (Sports Competition & Events Venues) to lead the planning and execution of world-class sports and events facilities within the Qiddiya entertainment and lifestyle destination. This role is vital in positioning Qiddiya as a premier hub for major sports competitions and events, attracting local, regional, and international audiences. As the Senior Director, you will oversee the end-to-end development of sports venues and events infrastructure, ensuring facilities meet international standards and deliver exceptional experiences for athletes, organizers, and spectators alike. Collaborating with diverse stakeholders, you will drive strategic initiatives that align with Qiddiya’s vision and broader objectives. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for the development of sports competition and events venues. Lead the planning, design, development and execution of world-class sports facilities and event spaces. Coordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Conduct market analysis and feasibility studies to inform venue design and event hosting capabilities. Build and maintain strong relationships with sports governing bodies, event organizers, government entities, and other key stakeholders. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, safety standards, and sustainability practices. Manage multidisciplinary teams, fostering a collaborative environment focused on innovation and excellence. Provide regular reports and presentations to executive leadership, highlighting progress, risks, and opportunities. Champion initiatives that enhance spectator engagement and athlete experience within the venues.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Sports Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 20 years of experience in sports venue development, large-scale event facilities, or a closely related sector. Strong knowledge of international standards for sports competition venues and event management. Proven track record of successfully managing complex development projects from inception to delivery. Exceptional leadership and team management skills with experience leading multidisciplinary teams. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities. Demonstrated experience in managing budgets, timelines, and project risks effectively. Familiarity with sustainability practices and regulations relevant to sports and event venues. Passion for sports and events with a commitment to creating exceptional venue experiences.
