Job Description

Are you a budding game design enthusiast with a fresh perspective and a burning desire to create engaging interactive experiences? Pixel Pulse Studios is looking for a passionate Junior Game Designer to join our growing team. This is an entry-level opportunity perfect for individuals with foundational knowledge in game design principles and a strong portfolio demonstrating their creative potential. You will work closely with experienced designers, artists, and programmers to contribute to various stages of game development, from concept to launch. We are committed to providing comprehensive training and mentorship to help you grow your skills and launch a successful career in game design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the conceptualization and documentation of game mechanics, features, and content.
  • Create detailed design specifications, user flows, and wireframes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (art, programming, audio) to implement design vision.
  • Conduct playtesting sessions and gather feedback to iterate on designs.
  • Contribute to level design, narrative development, and player experience balancing.
  • Research market trends and competitor games to inform design decisions.
  • Participate in design reviews and brainstorming sessions.

Required Skills

  • Strong passion for video games and understanding of various genres.
  • Foundational knowledge of game design principles (e.g., core loops, player psychology, system design).
  • Familiarity with game development tools (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine, or similar).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and solve problems.
  • A portfolio demonstrating personal game projects, design documents, or prototypes (even academic ones).
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Game Design, Computer Science, Interactive Media, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., C#, Python) is a plus.
  • Understanding of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design principles.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
