Job description

Overview WELCOME TO SITA At SITA, we keep airports moving, airlines flying smoothly, and borders open. Our technology and communication innovations power the success of the global air travel industry. You'll find us in 95% of international airports, working closely with over 2,500 transportation and government clients. Each partnership brings unique challenges, and we thrive on delivering fresh solutions and cutting-edge tech to keep operations running like clockwork. We don't just move the world forward-we're proud to be recognized as a Great Place to Work® by 79% of our employees and certified in most of our growing locations. Here, we feel empowered, supported, and inspired to grow. Are you ready to love your job? The adventure begins right here, with you, at SITA. ABOUT THE ROLE AND THE TEAM: This role supports the product and engineering teams in designing, validating, certifying, and deploying electrically safe, reliable, and scalable hardware solutions across kiosk and SBD product lines. The Electrical Engineer develops deep technical ownership of electrical architectures and acts as a key liaison between product management, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, certification bodies, and field operations. The role ensures products meet performance, compliance, cost, and long-term availability targets throughout the full product lifecycle. WHAT YOU WILL DO: Device Selection & Stress Testing Evaluate and select electrical and computing devices based on product requirements, performance, durability, cost, and long-term availability. Conduct stress testing and thermal analysis; define ventilation and heat management strategies. Validate systems under varied environmental conditions prior to productization. Collaborate with board manufacturers to develop industrial-grade motherboards with 12–15 year availability horizons. Leverage off-the-shelf solutions where appropriate to reduce cost and development time. Cable Design, Routing & Manufacturing Select cables that meet required electrical ratings, environmental conditions, and applicable safety certifications. Create detailed electrical and cable drawings, including connector selections (e.g. USB, HDMI, DC power). Define routing guidelines that respect bend-radius limits, ease installation, and support long-term serviceability. Specify cable channels, conduits, shielding, and protective hardware to ensure electrical safety and a clean product design. Manufacture custom cables in-house for prototyping or urgent production needs when supplier lead times pose delivery risks (e.g. USB 2.0, Molex power leads, DIN power cables). Supplier & Manufacturer Coordination Establish and maintain strong technical relationships with suppliers and manufacturers. Work with vendors to resolve driver, firmware, BIOS, and hardware issues during evaluation, approval, and post-productization phases. Tier 1 Technical Support Provide Tier 1 remote and onsite technical support for deployed products. Reproduce reported issues in laboratory environments to identify root causes. Implement and validate hardware or software changes to resolve customer or site issues. Agency Approvals & Compliance Support Support EMC, emissions, and electrical safety testing; resolve identified non-compliances. Use diagnostic tools (e.g. spectrum analyzers) to locate electromagnetic noise sources. Coordinate corrective actions including filtering, ferrites, shielding, and grounding improvements. Liaise with certification bodies and provide required electrical drawings and documentation. Diagnose electrically noisy components and recommend corrective actions to device manufacturers when constrained by supplier limitations. Production Support Support production teams with electrical assembly challenges, fitment issues, and cable routing constraints. Develop test procedures and documentation to validate electrical functionality prior to shipment. Assist technicians in troubleshooting complex test and production issues. Site Installation Support Travel to deployment sites to install hardware according to approved electrical layouts. Perform onsite testing and validation prior to handover to operations. Resolve issues identified during installation and commissioning. Custom Board Design Collaborate with PCB manufacturers to simplify complex designs and improve manufacturability and serviceability. Design custom PCBs to reduce cost where commercial solutions are unsuitable or prohibitively expensive. Develop custom boards when off-the-shelf components lack sufficient availability or lifecycle longevity. Design custom LED strips and control boards to meet specific product requirements. Qualifications ABOUT YOUR SKILLS: Minimum 3–5 years experience in electrical engineering within product development, industrial systems, kiosks, or embedded hardware environments. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Relevant certifications in EMC, safety, or hardware design are advantageous. Practical understanding of EMC, emissions testing, and electrical safety standards. Proven experience across the full hardware lifecycle: concept, prototyping, certification, production, and deployment. Experience working with suppliers, manufacturers, and certification agencies. Experience supporting production and field deployments in operational environments. Experience in regulated or safety-critical environments (e.g. airport, transportation, industrial systems) is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, low-voltage power distribution, cabling, grounding, and EMC. Experience with cable design, connector systems, and custom harness manufacturing. Ability to perform stress testing, thermal analysis, and environmental validation. Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, firmware, and system integration layers. Ability to balance technical quality, cost, manufacturability, and long-term availability. Comfortable working in a global, matrix-based engineering organization.
