The job holder plays a key role in overseeing all financial accounting and external reporting for our hub company which supports our UK and export business as well as the Entrance Control HQ functions. The position includes coordinating statutory accounts, tax reporting and other regulatory compliance, working together with the Shared Service Centre and other colleagues to meet the requirements. The combination of trading company, export and HQ activities will provide a breadth of experience and exposure for the incumbent. The job holder will will work closely with the European Financial Controller and CFO to ensure good reporting disciplines and effective internal controls are in place for this critical entity, while also identifying opportunities for system and process improvements that can enhance the efficiency of the finance team. Key Responsibilities: Compliance & Regulatory Reporting: Ensure there is an effective framework of internal control in place across the entity and that transactions are processed in accordance with the GEC Delegation of Authority matrix. Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed and reviewed on a timely basis (where relevant separating out UK, GPN, Mass Transit and HQ businesses within company). Ensure compliance with tax, audit, and financial regulations for GEC Limited. Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate audits and ensure accurate tax filings. Ensure all statutory and financial filings and reports are timely and accurate Financial Analysis: Conduct detailed P&L analysis, variance analysis (AvB), and margin analysis, highlighting key drivers of financial performance, including evaluation of margins on individual projects. Support HQ functions with analysis of actual costs and variances to budget/ prior year Liaise with the shared service centre to ensure timely and accurate processing of transactions. Collation and input of data required for Group financial reporting. Cashflow Management: Manage cash flow forecasts for the supported businesses, including liaising with Group Treasury to ensure liquidity and financial stability. Provide insights on cash flow management, identifying risks and opportunities related to working capital and cash position. Facilitate regular supplier payments and support the collection of customer debts, working with Shared Service Centre team to resolve queries and escalate delayed payments. Process & System Improvements: Evaluate current financial processes and tools to identify areas for improvement in terms of efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness. Support system improvements or process changes, including the implementation of these across the wider GEC business. Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, providing financial insight on business activities. Collaborate with the wider European Finance and Shared Services team to provide appropriate backfill cover when other members of the team are unavailable (sickness, holiday etc). Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis. Key Requirements: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting or finance, with an understanding of the manufacturing sector, sales and distribution. Proven experience in P&L analysis. Demonstrated experience with tax and compliance requirements including VAT, Corporation Tax and Companies House filings. Prior exposure to transfer pricing would be valuable but is not essential. Must have previous experience of working in a multinational business. Familiarity working within a remote Shared Service Centres (SSC) environment for transactional processing activities would be highly advantageous. Qualifications: Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent). Strong understanding of internal controls and financial reporting standards (UK GAAP and IFRS) Prior practice experience preferred Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; Experience with ERP systems (preferably Microsoft Dynamics and Coupa) as well as group consolidation systems (preferably Cognos) Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders. Proactive and results-oriented approach with the ability to identify issues and propose practical solutions. Fluency in English is required; additional languages are a plus.
