Position Location This position is based in Chesapeake, VA. Travel to Charleston, SC may be required to shadow at the fabrication facility. Job Overview Chugach is seeking an Data Entry Operator I (Engineer/Scientist 1) Intern to support the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) USCG IPT Contract as required. Position reports to Chesapeake, VA Office. Travel to Charleston, SC may be required to shadow at the fabrication facility. Responsibilities Essential Job Duties: Provide the NIWC Acquisition Team Lead with engineering support services for the USCG IPT Contract. Provide day-to-day engineering support with a focus on design, drafting, and illustrating to include computerized drafting applications, digital imaging techniques, and use of AutoCAD and Inventor. Design and model 3D parts and assemblies to create and provide fabrication and assembly technical drawings for the production and assembly of shipboard design solutions. Analyze design solutions using FEA software to assess stresses on parts and assemblies. Aid in the assembly process of complex products. Conduct quality assurance to ensure parts reflect drawings and standards provided. Utilize 3D printing technology for rapid and effective prototyping and testing of designs. Providing project technical and engineering support, including defining project scope, requirements, solutions, and deliverables; consulting with customers, working groups, and experts as needed; implementing plans to meet goals and objectives; providing recommendations to coordinate and integrate activities and to resolve complex problems impacting installation activities as required. Provide consulting on understanding drawings and technical documentation required to install, troubleshoot, and test C5I and HM&E systems. Provide consultation on data calls from NIWC Customer & leadership as directed. Perform other duties as required. Key Responsibilities: Extensive knowledge of Inventor Professional 2022 Knowledge of industry trends in 3D modeling technology Strong understanding in FEMAP Applications Ability to effectively communicate with leadership and peers Strong organization skills Job Requirements Mandatory: Two (2) years of experience including college education High School Diploma or GED Must have valid driver's license with acceptable driving record Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug screening. Preferred: Use of Microsoft Office 365 environment experience Excel/Word/PowerPoint/SharePoint/Planner/TEAMS AutoCAD 2022 Inventor Professional 2022 Working Conditions: Position may be exposed to and is expected to protect internal/external confidential/unclassified information. Work is generally performed indoors (sedentary). Outdoor work, if any, is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions.
